What difference does it make if you are cooking at a certain time and certain pressure? Also, McKenna and stamets were pretty much doing it this way 30 years ago. I mean it's damn sure more logical than fucking poly. I'm an sfd guy, but results are results. Where are your results to disprove this method?

Good, coz I wasn't trying to disprove anything. I really have my mind set on buying PP5's and what that man said made me overthink stuff, is all.

Well pasty uses an AA but Muda uses a presto I believe, and prestos definitely aren't air tight

Well it is certainly true that air gets sucked into a PC after it falls below 212F. But results are results and this does seem to be working.
Here's a cool demonstration of what happens when water goes from gas to liquid

I use prestos and air does get sucked in but it's never been an isue. I generally take my bottles out of the PC and tighten the lids while they are still hot enough to kill mold. So I assume any mold that gets sucked in gets killed while they are cooling.

Hi Muda! Have a question, didn't find anything in the OP. After inoc, do you crack your lids a little to allow some GE or do you keep them closed? I say this coz if my memory serves me right, I think Violet keeps her pp5's closed during the spawn run (not sure, though) Anyone know this for sure?

Lately I have been leaving them closed. If they appear to be stalling I will crack them a bit.

I am about to try edibles for the first time. I have quart pp5's (ziploc). I have some golden oyster LC. I have available: Coir, verm, gypsum, jiffy mix, wheat bran, hardwood pellets, brf, brown rice, rye berries. If you all had these ingredients on hand, which would you use or omit and if possible the ratios? No as worried about big yields as much as another learning experience. Was also wondering if these would do well outdoors in this nice spring weather? Would rather not have a bunch of oyster spores possibly interfering with other things. Would I be better off making grain jars and spawning to straw? I really wanna use these pp5's Apologies if this is laziness and I should read/search more (anxious to get started). Also should I be making a thread for this type of post or does it fit best here?

I prefer to grow oysters on straw but I have grown them in bottles of hardwood fuel pellets suplimented with 35% wheat bran. I centrally inoculated each bottle with colonised oat spawn by making an empty column with a broom handle in the center of each bottle pre PC. Once they are cool fill each column with spawn in a SAB.

Thank you! Will get some pics up when I have some fruits. I remember reading about the dowel in the middle several times now. Thanks for explaining that part again, I would have forgot.

What's your favorite thing to grow in bottles muda? Do you have a preferred sub at this point? I know you say you use just about everything. I read somebody saying that you've previously stated that you don' think it's best to fruit them in a monotub, that they do better on their own. Do you just throw half a 2L on top?

No I fruit everything in monotubs. My best substrate for cubes was probably coir, verm, oats, bran and dog food. My favorite species to grow in bottles is lions mane on sawdust and bran. I'm not using bottles for anything at the moment though. I'm just growing cubes in 105qt monos using nothing but oat spawn and straight bucket teked coir.

Just straight bucket tek? I think I'm going to start doing that, get rid of the compost and just keep it simple. At least I know how to pasteurize but I'm tired of getting sub par results. Does one brick fill up your 105qt? Do you just use a lot of spawn? I feel like i read 10 quarts or something.
