help me like Radiohead :)
    #2287252 - 01/30/04 03:41 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Most of my friends like them. I think I'm the only person I know who indulges in psychedelics who hasn't especially liked the Radiohead I've heard.
I'm hoping someone can clue me in - perhaps point me in the direction of songs that will make good examples of their best work, and I can start collecting from there?

Not slamming them - to each their own - but I guess they've just not clicked with me yet.

You have to listen to hail to the thief about ten times solid to get it..their tunes are alot more complex than alot of stuff out there and its only after a good listen u actually get it. but i am a tad biased!!

Don't forget Paranoid Android and Karma Police

Street Spirit is also one of my favorites.

Karma Police is the only one that I liked before. But I'm liking the suggestions people are making so far. I'll have to buy some of these CDs.

Basically Radiohead has 3 distinct periods in their music: the guitar-heavy rock period(The Bends), the electronic period(Kid A), and the transitional period(OK Computer).

grab OK Computer, the whole album kicks ass. then get Kid A, and then get the newest: Hail to a Theif. you can see their evolution, and regression, sorta.

Highlight Tracks:
Airbag
Karma Police
Paranoid Android
Exit Music
Idiotheque
Everything in its Right Place
Pyramid Song
2+2=5
There There
Wolf at the door

One of those bands that a couple listenings needs to get you oriented, and the vocals are great, but sometimes incoherent. Also, depth and production level extremely high and just fuckin amazing.

Just know that they are pioneers.
oh, and good. really really good.

Yes, Radiohead needs to be listened to thoroughly. You have to let down your defenses and really listen. Best band ever. Also good for interpretive dancing.

the first three albums are the best imo. the best is OK computer, then the bends, and then pablo honey. I think Ok Computer is the album i've listened to more than any other album while tripping. It's awesome

heres a few of my favorite songs: alien, let down, No suprises, Lucky, The Tourist, You, Stop Whispering, The Bends, Planet Telex, Fake Plastic Trees, Nice Dream, My Iron Lung

Their first 3 or so albums really stick with me. The newer stuff has lost something for me. It's not horrible, it just doesn't feel like radiohead.
