very very fluffy white growth

Hard to explain this without a picture, but I just birthed 2 of my cakes into seperate terrariums (just little rubbermaid things with perlite).  I dont expect to see pins for a few days anyways but i checked them out this morning and on parts of the cake the mycellium looks much much more fluffy, almost like a cottonball.  I know this is usually a good thing but the reason I ask is the rest of the cake didnt look like that when birthed.  Could it be the humidity is too high in the terrarium?  healthier mycellium?  or a contam?  opinions please   sorry this may be a dumb question i just dont wanna fuck anything up

can be caused by humidity, some strains also grow a fluffier mycelium than others by nature.

Either way I wouldn't sweat it too much. I just had 4 T3 casings do this on me. They still fruited well, and were delicious.

On my casings if theres real real fluffy white growth, a day later green mold shows up. It could be the 1st signs of green mold, mabey cobweb. If its almost translucent because its so fluffy id say its a contamn, if its more solid fluffyness then its mycelium.

Can you clarify one thing. . .how quickly did the fuzziness develop? Was it within a day?
One time back in the day I birthed something like 6 PF jars at once. They all looked white, nicely colonized. The next day I checked on them, and one looked like a stellar explosion--it had a good inch or so of spikey white growth over the entire cake surface. Pre-birth, the jar looked fine, but in fact I had birthed a jar of solid mold. A white mold.
I'd really keep my eye on that suspect cake. It could very well be fine, but quick changes are cause for caution.

The fluffiness experienced when it is green mold is generally more "grainy" where as the fluffiness of mycelium is more cottony. It is often hard to differentiate but there is no doubt they have a different texture. Hard to spot if you have never seen it and you will know very soon because it will change color reasonably quick.

Probably a good addition to the faq, to show the particular lifecycle of the old green.

it was a good 2 days before it was noticable and i check daily. I wouldnt say there was an inch of growth more like a 1/2 a centimeter higher. the growth is much cottony, ah well, just woke up today, gonna go check and see what it amounts to
