And an opuntia graft i made with a broken tubercule. Hope it takes.
I'll take more pictures when there is more development on the graft. I won't see my other babies for a while. Hope you all enjoy.
Seeing you back is the best news for the weekend.

So nice to see one of the less common plants on its own roots - beautiful. But you were ripped off!! Cactus plaza currently have them for €19.
I have a pair of P. aselliformis - came from cactus plaza about 3 years ago - so they are pretty slow growers.

They have both flowered, no sprouts yet though.
What I did pay big bucks for on ebay:

P. aselliformis cristata

I grew a couple of A. caput-medusae from seed - fairly slow for an astro, but one finally flowered this summer.

Do Pelecyphora hold a close relationship to Turbinicarpus?
what exactly is the difference between Pelecyphora aselliformis and Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus?
I know they can be interbred but I think I'm missing something here

Pseudopectinatus and valdezianus used to be part of pelecyphora until about ten years ago, they were moved to turbinicarpus along with a whole bunch of others from rapicactus, gymnocactus, strombocactus etc. Turbinicarpus is a weird grab-bag genus with several clades that doesn't make much sense to me. I'd like to read the articles that justify the current classification. I guess it's based on DNA amongst other things.

And complicated further by the fact that the only other current member of the genus Pelecyphora, P. strobiliformis was the monotypic Encephalocarpus strobiliformis until a few years back. Many people still prefer Encephalocarpus, including me.

Yep, this is a cactus.

And wow, that seed gave two seedlings. Didn't know cacti could do that. I know that tangerines or orange seeds could but wow ! These are Pereskia aculeata.

They sure will. It's good practice not to water directly after repotting. You should allow a week or Two for any damage to the roots to heal before watering. This prevents any open wounds on the roots from becoming infected.

Some serious growers do most of their repotting while their cacti are enjoying their winter rest, so it will be some time before they get any water. And many regard it as good practice to disturb the roots as little as possible - simply surrounding the existing root ball with fresh potting medium.
