Electrical / New:

- for left vanity plug

Electrical is done, just need to install the switches and outlets. Im running everything off of one circuit. I hope i dont overload it.

My original plan was use one circuit just for the heater and the other circuit for all the other lights and stuff but theres only one electrical circuit to the bathroom. Im not sure how to go from the panel to the master bath with all the walls in place

If I understand you correctly then you need to get into your house's attic crawlspace, you can feed the wires directly down inbetween the walls inside the crawlspace. Be careful working with the panel bro. I'm not an electrician, just done ghetto remodels a few times, been shocked a lot.

nice.

But i would do a different tile style myself. Our bath will have a glass wall with a door perhaps. Not sure.

And yes, im being careful with the electrical wiring.

Looking good so far.

What is the metal handy box for? The one with 2 12-2's going into it? It's too small. Even if it is just a j-box it isn't big enough. Those boxes are used when no other box will fit. The connectors you have in the boxes are backwards too.

I'm almost done with my bathroom. Just waiting on a door and a few small things. I did everything myself too. From the sub floor to finishing. Here's a couple pics.

damn dudd! Very nice :awebig:

Yeah, im actually going to redoing the electrical there in that box. Ive descided to run two seperate 12's guages from the main panel to the bathroom. The heater and all the lights/fans need their own circuits. Im going to leave that box as a junction box for the closet lights.

Im a long way away from a nice finished bath, but its nice to see yours got done!

You can run 14 gauge wire for the lighting and 12 for the outlets. The lighting should be on a 15amp arc fault breaker and the outlets on a standard 20amp breaker. What kind of heater are you using? How many amps is it?

Change that metal box to a bigger box. You will regret it later if you don't.

Heater is a 1000watt 120 volt can heater.

And yeah, im going to run wire direct from the heater and the outlets to the circuit breaker instead of dealing with the handy box.

Do u think it would overload it if i put 3 lights, 2 outlets and one overhead fan on one 20amp cicuit?

No, it wouldn't overload the circuit and it is probably ok as long as you aren't getting it inspected. The professional way to do it is to use a 15amp circuit for the lighting and a separate 20amp circuit for the outlets and another separate 15amp circuit for the heater.

man nice job on the remodel! your bathroom looks kickass!

I have to admit that with guilt i checked the dates on your posts and breathed a sigh of relief. we are redoing my wifes bathroom right now, and it has taken us just about a year. We are probably a few months out still, it has been a rough experience. no wonder people charge $15000 for that shit.

Yeah, currently our bath is on pause. Its a little more difficult than I imagined it to be.

Still need to install a window then work on the shower.

Currently, Im making a concrete pad for a future hot tub. Its been fun, learning a lot about how to do concrete from this awesome How-To book called "Better Homes and Garden - Masonry and Concrete". Just finished tamping, next is making the forms.

I plan on working on the bathroom again after finishing this concrete slab.

Just make sure you apply a good waterproof membrane in your shower area.
I find two coats of polyurethane works well. But you have to then make sure you use a tile adhesive that will stick to that.

Update (finally! lol):

I made a deal with my GF that i would make "major progress" in one month and if i did, we could go to the Oregon Eclipse Festival. So thats my current motivation right now. Just gotta suck it up and do this work.

She doesnt want to go the festival but i really really want to, so that should be motivation enough to get some work done.

My work planned is installing the two windows, ripping out the sub floor and then finishing the plumbing under the house and change some electrical stuff. Basically get it all done for drywall. A lot to do, wish me luck.

I may post pics when i make some progress....

I've been using the Hardipanel 4x8 sheets with the cedar look.  About 38 bucks a sheet.  You might want to check that out.  Sheetrock sucks although the Hardi is a little tough to cut.  One thing for sure if you get it wet you won't stress we had a water leak put that stuff in the shower area no problemo.  You can't say that with greenboard.  God I hate fucking sheetrock.  Doing my whole house in the Hardi board and batten it's such a good product won't burn won't rot and is water proof.

If your tired of the score and break method of cutting,  they make a inexpensive circular saw blade specifically for hardi type product. (The red brand comes to mind. Diablo?)

I may have missed this but make sure your outlets are ground fault protected (gfi) or what ever its called with the little reset buttons. Nice labeling on your wires.

Hardieboard is hard to finish. Why would you do your whole house with it? Your inside walls don't need to be waterproof and drywall doesn't rot. Hardie would cost a lot more too.

I did the shower/bath area with it.  It's not that hard to finish, and had I used sheetrock the water leak would have completely toasted it.  The hardi, no problem.  The rest of the inside is mostly knotty pine.  I'm doing the exterior with it.
