First what we need to do is make what I think is the intention of most of the regular posters here clear. This is a place of learning and personally I think it's amazing how much good solid info, based in science is posted here daily. It's what sets us apart from YouTube and reddit. This means that to keep that level and quality of information presented up to that standard we need to ensure a certain consistency. This means bad info must be corrected and good info agreed with. As this is a fairly new discipline there are still things we don't understand and discussion and disagreements will happen. That is fine and healthy.
However if people come in spouting off outdated or simply incorrect information it will be crushed by those trying to preserve the integrity of the information of the board. This is not personal and should not be taken as such. If it is taken personally we then run into butthurt facepalm territory. The solution is simple, don't talk out of your ass and no one will facepalm you. Of course we all talk out of our asses on occasion and we all will be called on it. No reason to let it ruin your day.

This is rule one for good reason.

I am a very green noob. Been lurking around for a year and finally joined over a month ago. I totally agree with what you said, PastyWhyte. Have not been able to get one successful pearl oyster clone on agar yet. But been trying! Have been read your techs/responses on the forum and have a lot of respect for you for what you've done and your open minded. Thanks!

Exactly!
Read, use the search engine, follow Teks to a T, ask questions, and learn hands on as well as in research. This community is amazing and quite possibly could be dramatically effecting the acceleration of the science in this field. These are exciting times to be a mycologist and this place is on the front lines.
I would really recommend How Frank Gets His Shit Done , PastyWhyte's Easy Agar Tek , and creating a trade list and engaging in the community- check out The Free Wedge Forum
I look forward to seeing your future grows!

Healthy reminder to everybody somewhat new to the forums. I'll be happy to be your chaperone through the fascinating world of being corrected if you're feeling frisky though.

Hear..Hear. That's what makes a good mod, imo. Not handing out points for posting to a 5 year old thread. There is soo much on here that's over a decade old, is easy for a noob to get totally screwed up trying to do the correct things. Keep up the great work
