pins in jar
    #2285116 - 01/29/04 09:22 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

my friend dunked/shocked/rolled and birthed 17 of 19 cakes, the remaining two he left in the incubator for a few more days, today when he looked at them he saw a few tiny pins/shrooms in the jars, he was planning on crumbling and casing but now that he sees those pins in there should he just birth them, without a dunk?? cause this is his first pftek and he thinks these pins would lead to his first shrooms if he left em be!

Maybe birth w/out shock/dunk&roll...it's only two cakes (out of 19).

Double end casing should be okay. You should have fruits galore fairly soon w/ all those cakes. In vitro pinning just bodes well for the rest. Good luck.

Cold shocking is ineffective for cubies.

If birthing, double end case them.

You could also let them be, and fruit those 2 invitro. You would be guaranteed shrooms this way.

And get .83 dried grams :smirk:.... Nah, take the risk (and it's marginal) and get those in your setup.
Edit: I should amend this by saying that there is really no risk at all if your temps, rH, gas exchange and lighting are right (heh).

Yeah, you will probably get a better yeild by birthing the final 2 over invitro. Just another option.

fruiting invitro means fruiting in the jar it colonized in, very poor flushes.

The mushrooms come out flat, and deformed. They are not pretty, but they make use of every bit of space avaliable to grow. Decent yeilds are definately possible with this tek.
