I know this question seems really dumb, but when u spawn a jar of grain or whatever to say, some straw, does that mean that you mix it in and then case right away, or does it mean to break the jar apart and then add it to another jar or bag of straw and wait for it to colonize b 4 you case it. Thanks for any insight.

take your jars and break them up.. Put down a bottom casing layer then some myc. Cover that with some pasturized straw and more myc. DO this in layers until you get your desired depth. THis way the myc. grows from the top and bottom of the straw.
I would incubate for a day then apply the casing layer and continue to incubate and patch till you get an even layer on top.

good luck

you gotta let the spawn completly colonize before you case, usually takes about a week or so of incubation depending on what your working with then you case, not a day after you mix the grain and straw

There's a thin line between sanity and insanity... and I just snorted it.

its mostly a matter of taste. Some people dont case right away, some people put a thin layer of pre casing to help against contamns and some just let it colonize first.

The latter is probably the best, because when you case you have more chance of getting even colonization = a better pinset.
