Oh yeah, I see I should be more thoughtful. English is not my native language, I ain't good at it. So I can miss 10-40% of information. Please tell me which way is better for sterilization of the tool? Should I PC it or iso + flame hot the tip of scalpel is enough? For lid opening

Ah it went great. Jars finished up in about fourteen days. They're in Shoeboxes now and should fruit some time in the next week or so. Gonna do another round today but gonna use foomans's prep to keep the grains a little more dry. I'll check those videos too.

Keeping this thread alive, because this tek is for me.
I’ve been ready to move to LC/LI for a bit now so I’ve been researching a lot of teks and just trying to keep things simple.
I have no issue making lids but I guess I still haven’t figured out exactly the drawbacks and benefits to the different lid/tek combos...at least not enough to make me get started yet.
I just PC’d 9 grain jars and for the 10th I ran a quart jar with 250mL distilled water.
Have you found out how many jars you can inoculate with one puck? What’s the max amount of water you’d use? You said ~25mL a jar so for 10 jars I went with 250mL. (even though I’ll only have 9)
Edit -
Inoculated those 9 jars. Really hope this works out well. It’ll stretch my agar cultures to wayyy more inoculate than dropping wedges.
Will update the thread w results 👍
Thanks Munch

I usually do 1 agar puck to 10 jars. Best of luck to you!

Just came back to report...
Wow.
1 agar puck per LI....I did a couple batches...
They are finishing up in 9 - 10 days. Crazy!
And to think before I was doing whole pucks per jar.
A stack of 10 pucks now will inoculate 100 jars for me instead of 10.
Game changer, Munch. Thank you 🙏
Not just 1 jar at 9-10 days....all of them. I spawned these 5 that were incoulated 8/27

Yo! Great tek!
made some LI yesterday and (I think) it worked well!
I made three different ones but one jar lid wouldn't get tight, so when I would shake a little water would splash out. I tried to tighten it and fit in the SAB but couldn't quite get it right. Is this something someone here experience? And what are the changes of this LI getting contaminated?
Thanks again for the TEK! excited to see results soon!

The plastic lids, at least the regular-mouth new generation (dark gray) ones definitely leak.
They need a silicone ring added to be water tight which you can easily get a pack of.
With this tek I’ve just been shaking with a paper towel around the regular metal polyfil lid and losing a tiny bit of water.
I’m about to get a 250mL slimline ‘easy pour’ media bottle though. Hoping it’s a bit smaller than the pint - I hit the top of my SAB pouring into the last 2 jars and it causes me a bit of issues but still a perfect success rate with this LI so far.

Should not be using a polyfill lid. You don't want to whick anything through the filter. Use an unmodded lid and a sterile knife to pop it open.

so I figured out that the lid was leaking because the MP layer was all the way to the edge and under the screw on thing. I tested some LC jars, which have the same configuration and those (thank god) are not leaking but I found some others which were so that's something to consider for the future.
I ordered plastic lids anyways

Gotcha.
But as mentioned my plan is to get a media bottle. I’ll just unscrew for PC, and it’ll be leak proof when shaking.
If I wasn’t doing that I would just order the silicone lid seal and use a plastic one 👍
On another note, using the polyfil never caused me any problems - there’s such a short lifespan for that LI there’s hardly any time for it to get contaminated - one of the great advantages to this 👍
