If you put NaCl in H2O what do you get? Salty water. If you mix NaOH with HCl what do you get? Salty water and a big energy release. Water is a low energy state molecule.

Water is the most stable oxide of hydrogen, but other elements are far more electropostive than hydrogen. Aluminum, All the alkaline and alkaline earth metals, zinc, iron will all displace the hydrogen from water at room temperature, some very vigorously. Additionally, there are many compounds and elements that will displace or form complex ions with the oxygen, such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxides, chlorine, and fluorine. None of these resulting compounds are water. They water has been destroyed.

I ask again. What happens when you combine NaOH and HCl? Did that destroy water?

no it creates it. Neither HCl or NaOH is water.

i don't know what you're on about this time akira, but that really doesn't disprove pris' point
kidding
this was definitely one of the better derivations off an original argument, that i've seen happen on the shroomery
from some reckless ranchers and their hijinks to a heated discussion over the physical properties of the water molecule

So you think HCl and NaOH contain water? They don't.

I know they don't. What happens when they come together? And they always do eventually. You were trying to make an argument about water molecules being destroyed because they became part of carbohydrates. But the aren't destroyed. They are temporarily incorporated in to other things. That always go back to being water. The only way to destroy water is by converting hydrogen to helium.

this is a silly argument. That would be like me saying that smashing a 16 penny nailer to pieces with a sledgehammer doesn't destroy it because those fragments could eventually be recycled to make parts for another nailer. You might as well just go one step further and just say that nothing is ever destroyed because of the law of conservation of mass/energy.

I think the way you want to think about that is nothing is every created/destroyed but processes have many time=zero starting and ending points.
