Leaving fully colonized in for 7+ days?
    #2281994 - 01/28/04 11:36 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

AFOAF is 8 days into his first grow. He is using EQ from Ralphsters, and I must say, he is very pleased! After just 8 days 4 of the 10 jars are almost fully colonized and the rest are all over 70%!

He is wondering though if he can leave a fully colonized cake in the incubator for more a week, he had heard of leaving them in a few days, but never that long of a time. Will it hurt anything?

Also, is it bad if you skip the re incubation of a simple all verm casing?

if you leave them in longer after they are colized like a week is good if you are doing casings since the inside of the cake may not be colinized all the way and if crumbled it could get contams from the uncolinized inside . so no its not a bad thing it will though eat up more nutrients

In my experience in this, I took several jars out right when they were fully colonized and they took several weeks to start pinning. I left them fully colonized in the jars for about 2 weeks and as soon as they were birthed they exploded with pins in like 2 days.

Reincubation of the casing is your choice, either way you will wait pretty much the same time. More chance of an uneven flush if you just throw the casing straight away into fruiting environment though.

Okay, well what I will do is take the first two cakes that are done (after letting them sit for 5 days) and case them, and then put the casing in with the other 8 jars until they are all ready to be birthed... does that sound like it would work?

Thanks for all the help guys, hopefull someday I can be the guy helping out
