OTB, I think your thinking of this one.
Quote:
you can also use this tek to store substrains.. mycelium can be dried and reanimated with water. just take off the tape on the tyvek (minus the one that is covering your innoc. point) that you use to keep the grain hydrated and let dry out.. thats it. I've had very little problems with this tek.

Pretty much a GWLC.
I didn't notice the corn
Would mycelium die if left to dry? Would it not be revivable to agar?
Edit: I guess u answered. Lol

Is it normal for there to be condensation on the inside of the containers? I waited 10 hours to open the PC.

Totally normal. If you take the foil off it should disappear in a couple days but it shouldn't affect your work. You could inoculate right now with water on half the dish and not have any problems.

Is that plate a monoculture already? If it isn't I'd clone that bastard

Na this is just a single transfer from spores on agar. I have some plates I've transferred like 4 times now, they look and grow much better.

that fruit growing on that plate itself is probably made up of more than a few strains.

I'm curious, does a pin grown on agar mean that there's at least one strain in it that is a good fruiter? idk, maybe it wouldn't perform well on bulk subs.

Would you mind telling me what do you mean by invitro pins? Pins grown on agar, grain "petri" dishes or just a regular invitro grow?

Who's to say it's a 'good' fruiter.
We can't predict genetics. Some people with lots of experience and research might be able to. Fruits on agar might mean it's a good fruiter. But it could also mean that those are genetics that fruit well on agar in a tiny substrate....
ALSO. Invitro Pins are pins / fruits grown inside a sterilized container that has (usually) never been opened since inoculation.
But yes, you're right. You can never say for sure how something is going to perform on a bulk sub. I have learned this lesson very hard over the last year through lots of shitty yields and poor clone selection.

Which do you think would be the fastest way to get yourself a kickass culture? Isolating from pins or isolating strains from MS?
