 Shroomery: the Game

as some of you may know last year I made
Shroomery: the game
unfortunately it went unfinished
even more unfortunately I lost most of the original work
but I still think about the game fairly often and would still like to make a complete version
and I think I know now where I needed the most improvement
but this was something i did without input from the community
I never asked what the members would like to see in a shroomery game
I was/am limited with what I am capable of making
but let's ignore that for a moment and instead let's dream
what would your dream shroomery game be like?
what genre would it be an RPG, a platformer, FPS or other?
would it be set in fantasy, futuristic sci-fi, modern day or would you do something completely different?
if you saw the Shroomery sitting on a shelf at gamestop or on steam
what would you want it to contain?

should have a mushroom growing rpg. the character could be trying to stealth grow shrooms in his moms basement or something.
Gotta worry about the police catching you, go bowling with your mom so she thinks everything is fine and has no reason to question your lack of a job or why the basement is locked up like ft knox with security cameras.
Be able to build and upgrade different types and styles of shroom grows with differing yeilds based on skills. ex: start off with a PF-tek grow in the closet, have a "jaring" skill that enables you to be faster or create more jars with xp. Be able to grow about a zip a week or month and have to sell it at the local park...
upgrades to a bulk spawn grow in a greenhouse taking up the whole basement producing pounds of shrooms a week and loading vans full of shrooms on a deadline in time for bonaroo.
I would honestly try and make this game 2d in unity if anyone else can help with the artwork.

The final boss has to be Ythan. Pris can be a mini-boss.

Well, there is a lot of member-on-member combat here. But making users playable is a great idea too. A mixture of both is ideal, I guess. If there are boss fights or whatever, they should be recognizable to users of the shroomery. Like that Iraqi general asshole that tells you there are no bugs when there clearly are. Or moments where stuff happens like "you have enraged Automan; the SLOTS thread is now locked and your fellow posters are pissed".
Are you looking to make this game geared towards the community side of things, or the myco guys in cult? Depending on your answer, my ideas could be pretty invalid.

originally I had created an old school RPG
and the characters that joined your team were shroomery members
if I remembers correctly
general LEO had imprisoned king Ythan
and a small resentence (the shroomery) rose up to take back the throne

I love old school RPGs! I guess my only real suggestion is that the game should be 100% esoteric, just filled with stuff that only shroomerites would ever get. Realistically, no one but the members here are likely to ever play the game, so cater to your audience. There's a small group of dudes in UC forums writing what is called either "shroomery fiction" or "anus fiction". This stuff is enjoyable because it's chock full of inside jokes, references, and events that are wholly unique to the site and its users. I'd work in that vein.

so i found the closest thing to shroomery game we're gonna get. its a sim game called the basement check it out on steam.

p.s. If Ythan is the final boss then Thor needs to be the REAL final boss, hiding in the shadows, running the finances, puppet string on Ythan.
