Yea, I was thinking the same thing. Even with a roomie its hard to get away with less than $450 a month with utilities

So you've got like a future and shit. I'm all for enjoying the money you've got but when you could work another 6 hours a day and ever cent would be gravy, you could actually invest some of it or put it in a 401k
Just laziness. And this is coming from someone whos pretty fuckin lazy. I knew people who worked 60hrs+ a week and are like "Whatever, not that bad"

I could get by on 25 dollars/day which is 750/30, but affording a cellphone would be a challenge let alone a car or an apartment.
I get about 450-500/wk for 45-50 hours, after taxes. I'm happy enough with my job, not really a happy person in general but I think I put on a good face most of the time. Working full time is still kinda new to me, I was a lazy scrub for a while only working part time or not at all, but I'm sick of sinking into debt and having other people pay for my shit because I am broke.
I'm an apprentice now, and that will likely be the case for years, but once I know the job I will be able to make more money and have no problem finding steady work even if this company closes.

I used to work 45 hours a week and made about $70,000 a year.
I took a nice hard look at my life and decided to take a simpler approach. I now work 20 hours a week and make about $35,000) It's much better for me because I never understood why anyone would want to waste most of their lives working (although if you actually enjoy your job/career, that's different)

Ive been out of high school since 2013. Ive been working at a krispey kreme in flordia. My wage is 8.65 and my hours a week are from 21.5 to 37.5. Shit sucks !!!!

Yeah 35k is kind of the sweet spot for me. It is definitely enough to live on decently enough for me and to be happy. If I had to work 50-60 hours a week to make that much though, that would be a different story haha

4. I'm content with it atm because I know the job so well it's
easy to get up and go just like a simple routine. Also a management
spot is opening up in September, and since I've been with them
for 2 1/2 years now I'm hoping for the best.

40-60 hours a week. Although since it's winter the hours have been more like 20-30 the past few months. Which blows.
Pay is about 600-1000 per week cash.
I'm loving it, but looking forward to summer when the hours pick up and we start working outside again. And will probably be getting a raise.

1.In the summer I work anywhere from 2-15 hours a day, Winter whenever it snows which could be 4-12 hours depending on how much snow we get.
2.In 2015 I grossed about $128,000. Netted around 60,000.
3.I own a parking lot maintenance business.
4.Love what I do. I would like to start an organic farm and slowly phase out the parking lot business and just raise happy healthy livestock and produce. The thought of working for someone else makes me depressed as shit.

Any where from 0-40hrs a week depending on the time of year,
I've had no hours for 2weeks now
I haven't checked my pay stub in months but last I checked I made a little over 10 000 last year
I'm a grunt at a corporate factory, shipping, I with a few others handle all the boxes in the place that are too big for the conveyors, so I'm just lifting heavy boxes all day. It's exercise though doesn't bother me.
When I'm getting 30-40hrs a week I am.
Its just a in between job though
I'm happy yes

I stock stuff at Walmart,whatever they tell me
I make 9.50 an hour, work a bit over 30 hours a week, 4 days, but they usually keep me an extra hour lately
What is happy? Not financially, no. I stand by that. I work hard and am tired by the end of the day, and that is not a living wage.
Fuck whatever you say about me being a looser. If I didn't have help I'd be working and living on the street
The job is tiring,my coworker worked too hard and just about passed out
They gave full time to some lazy girl instead of him though

4 most of the time, learning to appreciate things helps, for a long while i felt a stigma of not being more quote un quote. but i realize im making 25 to 50 an hour because i can work people and there is nothing to be ashamed with that working honest.

Just gave notice to my corporate slave lords last night. Was working 65+ a week. With the ridiculous amount of OT I was making almost 80k a year.
Found another position making a slightly better hourly rate, but with less OT I'll end up bringing home less at the end of the year. I don't give one single solitary fuck.
Moneys a helluva thing but it's not everything. I'd rather take the cut and spend time with my wife and kid.
I'm an Industrial Automation Tech. I enjoy the work, just didnt enjoy the sociopaths I worked for.

Between 5500 and 6500+ a month. Depending on overtime.

The three month on/one month off schedule is sometimes debilitating.

1. 38 hrs a week with no overtime, up to 50 with overtime
2. No overtime around $800/week after tax
3. Sheetmetal worker (mainly welding and making thingymajigs out of metal)
4. Some days yes, some days no. I live for the weekend so it doesn't really matter

i have two paths to cash that i take:
1. ~10hrs per week /// ~30hrs per week
2. always under 10k (made about 5k in 2015)
3. busk/tattoo/sell my zines /// various piecework (mushroom picking, fruit picking, trimming, etc)
4. heck yes! every year i get better at earning my living and can dedicate more and more time to enjoying my life--i tend to do the piecework for a couple months in summer, and then coast on my tradeskills the rest of the year--mi love mi life!

I left my job at the of December to move across the country.
I'm an Electrician
I worked anywhere from 10 - 60 hours a week
I made $30,000 to $40,000 a year. It doesn't sound like much, but its pretty good because the cost of living here is low. I have a really nice life and I am usually happy.
I like the work I do, well most of it anyways

I just got myself a cute 19yo girlfriend in Rimouski. She likes to be treated like a princess!
Im fune with that I love treating cute girls to the royal treatment!
Shit fuck it cost me 400$ last time we went out. Restaurant and the bar. Back at her place and boom boom boom!
Now shes all over me like ugly on a ape!

Im AB (able-bodied). I work the deck. Cargo ops and driving the ship. Helmsman.
In the summer time im arctic boatswain aka deck boss for arctic ops.

1. i work in the chemical industry as a machine operator. New job, started in Dec. Temp to hire after 90 days.
2. work 40 hours a week no more, no less.
3. i currently make about $340 a week take home. Not much, but i get by.
4. Do i like my job? mostly yes. My co workers are pretty cool, my supervisors are decent people, and the work varies. Not the most exciting work but its pretty cool sometimes. When its slow, lots of cleaning with is boring as hell.
One of the best things about my job is my time schedule and distance. My time for work is swing, start at 4pm. Its the best guys. Swing is the best. i get to sleep in everyday and go to bed near midnight, which i usually do anyway. M-F work with weekends off. awesome.
Secondly, my work is about a mile away. The best commute ever! i save so much gon gas money and save lots of time. I do get to work late cause im a procastonator, working on that
Lifes pretty good at the moment, in the future, i should get a hire on raise. Its good to have full time work, used to work temp jobs and made very little money

4. Mostly yes. I love the company. Me and the owner have a really good relationship and I'd consider him a friend first, and a boss second. I work from home so I have a ton of flexibility in terms of when I want to work, and have lots of other rad benefits.
I just need to start making more money, and I don't think it'll happen with this company.
I'm trying to get into bar tending at night, and then maybe transition over totally once I know I can make enough.
Bartenders - any tips on how to get in? I've worked lots of customer service oriented gigs, but never in the food & bev industry. I know I could pick it up quick though.
it just seems like a hard thing to get your foot in the door with so far

With no experience your best bet is to find a job bar backing or serving. Typically guys bar back to get into bartending and girls serve. It's just usually harder for guys to get server jobs with no experience as well, but you could do it through some shitty corporate chain restaurant.
Otherwise your other option is getting familiar with some smaller bar and getting in that way. Maybe get a shift working the door or working on the floor and do a good job. Express interest in being behind the bar and maybe they'll show you the ropes.
Getting a job as a bartender outright with no experience is not impossible, but not very likely. Especially if you are not a young attractive female.
You can always lie about past experience, but I very strongly recommend against doing that. It will become immediately obvious to anyone that you lied and this will result in burned bridges. Some of the most basic things that people don't realize about bartending are the things that will get you found out. Free pouring, for example, isn't hard but is something you will probably have no clue about if you don't have any experience.

I don't drink liquor either so I have a lot of drinks to learn, but like I said I can pick it up quick I'm sure.
all that said, I think i'd be good at it, just gotta weasel my way in somewhere. I'll probably go the small bar route.

Go to bars with a resume and ask to speak to a manager. Go on slow days (Monday, Wednesday) and go on slow hours. It will be pretty obvious if they are busy or not. Express that you are interested in bar backing. It shouldn't be too hard to get a job. Some places you'll have to start out working the door or the floor, some places you won't.

buy the little bartenders black book, full of a bunch of never make recipes like all of them and remember you pour the houses drink not your own.
service industry is nothing but priorities and reading people. like all sales find common ground and give them what they want. everything from old fashioned's to sidecars, gummybear shots or kryptonite. its all they same mixology is always based off of 5 count main 3 count liquer (vermuth or tripple sec, usually) if you don't drink you better at least start tasting so you know you are doing it right.
you will quickly learn a monkey can make drinks, it takes a man or (woman) to manage the personalities and entertain although it is rare a women can run i bar the way i prefer.

I really dislike teaching people how to make drinks based on count. Your 5 and my 5 can be different. Plus you get to things, like a Manhattan for an easy example, where you're making it with more than 1.25 oz of whiskey, and a 5/3 whiskey to vermouth would be a little heavy on the vermouth.
I get what you're saying about it all being fairly similar and being able to think of drinks in similar ratios or whatever, but it's better to learn actual measurements than to have someone go "okay a Manhattan is an 8 count of whiskey, 4 count of vermouth". You might end up pouring a 5.5oz drink or some shit.

Made 47 last year and took home 36 of it. Working no more than about 32 hours a week with 4-6 days off in a row sometimes. Work about 2-5 hours a shift. 4 doubles a week and one sunday,saturday and monday off. Now have 4 dbls tues thru fri and sat sun mon off. Made 512 bucks on a double today. Not too bad, but burned out on the service industry, but its the money and time off that keeps me in it for now. More classes taken in the next 6 months and I'll be ready for the state boards again. Met a wonderful person (best one yet!) and talking of buying a house. Pretty happy compared to the last few years. Peaks and valleys man!

I work about 40 hours a week, about $3200/month. I'm a journeyman Carpenter, employed right now, we do renovations as well as large commercial work. I am often foreman on commercial sites. Job is pretty cool, lots of outdoor work and a good combination of brains/hands on. It is often physically straining and there are many hazards. Also you get a mixture of smart trades people and dumb. The smart ones are rarer and more successful. The dumb ones are annoying. When I get older I might go into construction management Like my dad. My short term goals are to finish my red seal certification and become more self employed. Currently do small side jobs too.

I forgot to mention that my credit score is 809, about 30,000 in credit or more on 4 cards all paid off and the one I use is at 11.9% interest, have a school loan but it is around 21,000 and in good standing, I only have to make 500 a week for basic bills (not including food and gas, 400 now that my cc's are all paid off) and I met a wonderful person that I thought I would never meet. Very happy for now!

I have been working tech support at 40 hours a week with some occasional overtime, paying a couple dollars above minimum wage. For now i'm pretty happy there I definitely don't plan to stay there long term though. We are literally just numbers to the company and they basically make there decisions based off there numbers.
The people are pretty cool, and I've never experienced any drama which is one of the top importances for me in a job aside from making a decent living. I'm definitely trying to figure out what to do to get a better paying job though. Does anyone know if system/network administration is a good field to get into?

I'm a Life Skills course supervisor at a drug and alcohol rehab.
I work 70 hour weeks, and I make decent money even though I'd do it for free.
I'm passionate about my work and the payment of helping another take cause over there addiction is priceless.
