Has anyone tried using store bought poo to grow pan cyans? I'm wondering if it will be sufficient? Thanks!

I dont see why not it works for cubes and they are grown the same way. The only way to find out is to give it a try and tell use aboute it. Why dont you use straw?

If I have enough spawn I will do experiments in straw, poo, and worm castings!

you should be fine with it does this store bought poo you got work for cubes? If so you are in the clear. I would do a mix of the poo and straw but the straw is deffinitly a go it will work as long as its wheat straw

Yields are better then straight grain, but less then field picked cow manure or straw manure.
Straw by itself contaminates the easiest. Store bought poo contaminates easier then field picked manure.

Yeh paw paw I was talking about the pf tek with poo recipe on the "growing other species than p. cubensis" section of the FAQ. I guess I should spawn that to scotts 3 in 1 like automan suggests. Any more thoughts on this fellas?

i have never lost a scotts 3-n-1 bag to contams or non-fruiting. i mix equal amounts of compost and verm, then moisten to the right point and spawn with wbs or rye. it always works for me.

well I'm not talking about casing, just making a bulk run from a few of those poo/verm/flour jars that I mentioned from the FAQ. Why is it so hard to get the jars to 100 percent if the poo is in there? Maybe we have a missunderstanding? Post dat link mate!

Some substrates are harder to pasteurize then others. The more undigested wood, the harder it is to pasteurize.
Mushrooms also have a prefrence for eating. They can become scavengers, but it takes a physiological change in the mushroom to feed on off substrates. This change weakens the mycelium.
Example. Cubensis can eat paper, but it eats manure more succesfully.

How many flushes do you get, and what is your total yield per cup of substrate?
I have never had a store bought manure casing stop fruiting before it contaminates!!!
Ie I loose the casing before it is finished fruiting.
Don't get me wrong. I use hoffmans 1-1-1 all the time. It is readily available in my CITY, unlike COWS. But my yields are not the same as they were on COW pie based substrates.
Each flush yields less, and the amount of flushes is less with store bought.
I agree with what is being said though. Most problems associated with growing Copelandias is based on less then contaminant free spawn.
Larger jars with less substrate, and filter patches. Clean spores/mycelium. Proper temps for incubation will all increase the success rate, regardless of which frutiing substrate you choose. Substrate only becomes important after CLEAN SPAWN.
If it is contaminated before casing, it contaminates regardless of what you spawned to.
