Taking care of PF style jars
    #2277144 - 01/27/04 11:19 AM (17 years, 1 month ago)

I have some jars that are probably entering there 3rd week. Most of them are doing well but seem to be having a hard time growing in the bottom of the jar. IT looks like the substrate is just settled to much on the bottom and that there is no air down there. Is there anything I can do at this point or will just eventuallly take over the bottom?

cheers

If the holes are taped, remove the tape and turn them upsidedown

Removing the tape and flipping them is a good idea. You should also loosen the lid a bit. If you become too impatient you can always birth the cake now and scrape off the uncolonized substrate.

I dont have the hole tapped. I keep them covered with new tin foil in the incubator. So should I just flip the jars?

Ive heard stories about people who mess up the jars by flipping them.

Flip them, and give a slap with your hand so the cake falls and rests on the lid.
