Vermiculite Casings
    #2276937 - 01/27/04 09:49 AM (13 years, 5 months ago)

My dog cased with straight vermiculite on the 12th of Jan. He put them in the fruiting chamber on the 17th ( they all had ok partial growth on them, maybe a lil early.) The chambers are two large bins with two cake pans in each. For air and humidity control a ultrasonic humidifier is setup on medium air and low humidity for the outflow. The ultrasonic runs 90mins off and 30min on. He has been giving about 2-12 hours of light each day but has yet so seen any signs of even hyphal knots. My dog was just curious, this is his first time using vermiculite and not sure he really likes it. My dog has always used nursery mixtures or else coco fiber. Give me any thoughs!!

If your dog has had better success with nursery mix or coco coir, tell him to use that. Experimentation is good, but go w/ whatever works best for you.

Yeah but the verm casing is definetely not the problem, I have a 3 pint straight verm casing with pins popping up all over. Give its time. Sounds like you should have pins anytime.

afoaf use to work with straight verm. After switching to coir though he found that pin formation seemed to be increased and it was much easier to determine the proper amount of water to be applied to the casings. Just some observations from his grows
