I just wanna use it for kro jars cause when you steam them it creates a suction so i figured if I put the hole I will be injecting through and covered it with tyvek after the jars cool the vacum. wont be thier cause of the tyvek letting air pass through withou any contams. after I will seal it with tape and inject as normal. Will this eliminate the vacum effect?

I love tyvek for my grain jars. With a cautious grain 2 grain transfer in a glove box, I've had no contamination except bacillus, but that was my fault for not draining well enough. You can order a hefty supply from the us postal service for free. Actually, I'm not sure if they still give away the envelopes or not, but I see no reason for them to stop doing it. Does the tyvek in the form of house wrap also work? It seems like it might not be autoclavable.

i'm familiar with witch envelopes are the tyvek ones, but i've got a quick question. I was thinking about getting some filter disks from micron magick to get some air flow in my PMP (by cutting holes at the top and covering them w/the disks), but could i use tyvek instead? It just didn't seem to me that those envelopes were very breatheable...

Just recently been playing with tyvek. is just one layer suffiecient or do you use 2 ie: just cut circles out of the envelope and use top and bottom. I've been using a double layer and wondering if thats why the bottom of my birdseed quarts seem to be having trouble colonizing? couple of em I think were still to wet but curious if this could have anything to do with it.

thanks

I used it for the first time recently, doing birdseed and popcorn for the first time, using syringes made from a print for the first time.

Used circles of tyvek cut from fed-x envelopes, and screwed jar lids on. Some jars had only tyvek with aluminum foil on top, some jars had lids with small hole(s) drilled with tyvek under. They all worked fine. Looks like they didn't dry out too much. Popcorn colonizing the slowest. Best birdseed were in half pint jars.

good luck

suzie
