Results as promised. All of my cakes dunked this way contamed. They all got some kind of brownish slime on them. All of the pins they grew either grey skinny, short, or aborted. So as far as I can tell this myth has been busted. :cool:

I hope posting others ideas from other msg boards isn't a big no no. If so delete this. Before I start I would like to say that I read this tek over at mycotopia. So the idea isn't mine its hippies.

I guess the idea behind it is that caffeine stimulates pin formation. The tek calls for diluted coffee in your dunking water.

There was concerns with contams because if you leave a cup of coffee out for a few days it grows mold. So I am trying this out using diluted black tea. I chose tea because I've left cups of tea sitting out for days and didn't see mold. Also because I think * could be wrong* that black tea has more caffeine in it.

Anyway back to the experiment. After removing all fruits from the cakes I took them, one group going on its third flush one going on its second and dunked them for 12 hours. ( my usual dunking time )

Now two days later these cakes have LOTS of pins on them. Some of them are already about an inch in length. So far i have zero contams. I am no cultivation expert but as far as my experience goes this seems to be a really short amount of time to have pins.

This idea looks promising so far. what do you all think?

I haven't seen any talk of this tek here so I thought I'd toss it over here.
I'll keep you posted on any progress if there is some interest shown.
