Are these edible? Reishi???

I found these in the woods behind my house growing on a dead oak log. They smell pleasant and are a bit dense, with pores on the underside. They look like a kind of reishi but I'm having trouble finding anything on them. Any help with an ID would be greatly appreciated.

Those look like turkey tails to me but wait until a TI comes by. I'm I believe turkey tails have some medicinal value.

the pores are way too big for turkey tails.
also, turkey tails grow in rosettes.
These are not poisonous, though, and are likely medicinal.
You have one of the turkey tail look-alikes; you have some other type of closely-related Trametes.

I agree with Vedic that the pores are much to large for trametes versicolor.......

These look very similar to something that I have been trying to identify for a while. We have, a ganoderma (I guess), here in tennessee that looks similar.........sorta. Are these flexible like stiff leather or when you say dense do you mean solid? The unknown shelf that I find is very very strong smelling, it smells exactly like a vat of the commercial fish flakes. I will try to get a picture this week sometime.

Well the pores on what I found look just like the pic you posted, BuddyGreenMan, it seems possible we may have the same thing because the underside resembles the underside of yours. And Herbancowboy, they are like thick stiff leather., as far as the flexibility goes. But it isn't strong smelling or fish flake scented. It's a pleasant tasty fungus smell and kind of subtle. But I can imagine that they would get a strong fish flake odor as they age, as most other fungus does, but I don't know for sure. I'm no expert or anything.

I think you do actually have trametes versicolor
Pictures can be misleading but using your finger-prints as a scale those pores seem to be quite small in my opinion.

It could be tremetes versicolor, the pores do appear small on second inspection. I harvested some and the look slightly different. Below are tbe ones that I chew on fresh and make tea with.

I may as well put one more horrible pic of the tt pores here. This was done with a pocket microscope and tablet so dont be expecting much, lol. We have a lot of tt look alikes with sawtooth gills that can be mistaken for a polypore surface and thats why I use the microscope. Supposedly, I THINK, that there is only one polypore that is toxic but then again there are a lot of mushrooms that are unknown. The fact that polypores are proving to be mostly edible and some are very medicinal just amazes me.

Take everything I say with a grain of salt but....
That looks like Ganoderma sp., not Tremetes. If it is Trametes, it looks nothing like Turkey Tail. Does the underside bruise brown?

Does not look like Ganoderma. I'll bet it is a Trametes cubensis -ish thing with autoimmune boosting and anti-tumor qualities...
