Just got back from the fields. I found this mushroom which seems very similar to Psilocybe stuntzii. They practially allways grow in clumps, start off conic and white. In age they become a tan color, and the caps get all wavy.Matured ones are a pretty good size at least an inch or two. So far, that havent seemed to bruised. Expect i live on the gulf coast, not the east coast, which is were they are supposed to grow. Is it possible that they could grow here?

Ys P. stuntzii's ae indigenous to the Pacific Northwest United States from Eugene, Oregon to British Columbia in the north and along the I-5 Corridor between the Cascades in the East and the Olympics in the West. Now a question for you. 'Blue Ringers' are not white at all. Where are you located? the east coast or west? and in what state do you reside? And a picture would help. Buy a disposable camera if you have to. mj Your questions do not make sense. mj

Apparently you missed my post. One is that you did not say where you are o so I am assuming that you are in the southeast U.S. A.
P. stuntzii's do not grow there and your shrooms are difinitely not a psilocybian mushroom and the picture is a little on the dark side to identify.

I apologize for the picture, it was with a cruddy webcam. And sorry about the location thing, i live in texas, near the gulf coast. Thanks for your help anyways. I started with just interest in "magic" mushroom, but somehow i cant resist to dig further into mycology. Mushrooms sure are interesting lifeforms!

Isn't that seemingly unavoidable progression fascinating? From Paul Stamets himself to probably 95% of the people on the Board, things start with magical species. Then, before you know it, you're hunting, cloning, and trying to grow every fungus in the forest! Long live Basidiomycetes! Mwouhahahaha!
