A question about my pinning temperature.
    #2271801 - 01/25/04 04:01 PM (13 years, 2 days ago)

I have noticed that I am getting fluffy mycelium and delayed pinning. This is because I think my room might be a little too hot, and the temperature constantly changes from about 80 deg, to 70, should I leave them in this enviornment and suck it up. OR my other option is to move them to the basment where the temperature ranges from 50-55 degrees constantly. Will the mushrooms do better in this enviornment?

I don't have an answer to your question, but I do have a word of advice. If your basement is anything like most you would be better off not putting your set up down there. Molds seem to run rampant.

fluffy mycelium is something normal. it's just the stage before pinning.
Be patient! The answers for all your questions (about temp, etc) are all in the f.a.q.

I have pinned them well down there before without problems with mold. What I am mainly worried about is the temperature, it 50 degrees to harsh for mushrooms to pin?

Will they pin at 68 degrees or is the optimal temp just 75 I reall dont wanna set up my fruiting tub. And it is 68 in my house so it would be nice to just leave it on the table instead of the hassle of a tub.

68 is fine fee you shouldn't need to set up anything special...
