mycoshroom's Attempt. 1st Harvest
    #22706751 - 12/27/15 06:38 PM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Hey everyone! So I've recently started a little grow for myself. I have 4 strains, peru, Lipa yai, Texas and eq.

(pics are updated in the thread as you go!!)

my plan here is simple. start with a good number of jars. creating a cushion for me to fall back on if any error occurs since this is my first grow in many years. and a first REAL attempt Ever. if u get my meaning. I'm starting with masters of 4 strains. ill weed out which I like most, which colonizes quickest and seems the most aggressive. and with those strains ill do g2gs or p2gs or even possibly GLC, to many quarts or large spawn bags. with left over cakes or jars ill experiment, different bulk subs, ratios, etc etc. ill make some trays, but the bulk of my grow I expect to be monotubs. we shall see how it comes along though(:
any thoughts, comments, advice, is very welcome here. I'm here to learn and gain some experience as I am still an amateur when it comes to growing mushrooms(: thank you guys!

yes(: the texas seems to be the quickest so far, the MS was darkkkkk. what u didn't see was most of the bottoms of those jars had a good bit in it. so today I shook em(:

oh sorry the pics are soooo damn huge.. I couldn't find any other way to put them up.

I like that you use poly for your jar lids. I do the same, and I don't find any significant difference in colonization times when using SFD's or tyvek sheets.
It saves a lot of time and stress too. I make sure to stuff them tight. Grains only need a minimal amount of GE.

Upload your pics to the site, and they'll automatically be re-sized.

I was having trouble it wont let me download them to the site.. I spent a lil while trying different ways to do it lol... so F it. you guys get big high def pics lol

and yeah its a pain to stuff that many lids though. requires a little work.. I'm just dreading having to prepare enough grain for all the spawn bags, and enough substrate to fill the several 105 quart tubs I have :ooo:

Looks great, love the super rhizo WBS jars. I gotta do a coffee soak with my grains next time.
Did you simmer or just do the 24 hour soak?

I find that my WBS is fully hydrated after the soak, so I just strain, and load them up semi-wet.
The moisture on the outside helps them plump up a bit more after the PC run.
Then, I just shake them up really good to redistribute the excess moisture.

Those trays are looking good too, make sure you mist the surface a bit and have it evaporate off, then do it again. This will directly stimulate pin production.

But, those fruiting chambers look a bit lacking in FAE. I'd drill bigger holes and stuff them with polyfill. :goodluck:

Thanks! yess with the grains I just rinsed them until clean then simmered with the coffee grounds mixed in. to check for moisture content in the grains I just kept scooping a few up and seeing how easily my fingernail went into them.

yeah I didn't really set up the FC's yet, I kinda just popped a few holes and didn't get around to doing the rest. the trays I think need a few more days till their ready to fruit. but more FAE. ill drill either more holes or bigger ones with polyfil. (: is there a specific placement generally for monotubs? a few of my chambers will be perlite in the bottem, but the rest are going to be big monotubs. I'm not really aware if theres a specific placement besides a few inches above the substrate level? and a few on each side?

Follow this monotub tek
You can skip the magnetic hole covers, it's not necessary.
And place the trashbag liner inside the tub itself to prevent side-pinning. :super:

figured out how to shred my straw haha!
[image][/image]

first mushrooms, by total accident lol I took a handful of straw/poo and threw it in a jar that HAD spawn in it to see if the few grains and myc on the walls of the jar would colonize the sub. and it did. the jar sat around until the other day my buddy noticed a few pins growing off it lol
[image][/image]

and the tray of texas, covered in primordia
it almost looks like its fruited too early in the pic, but whatever. I'm person it looks to be fully colonized..
