Outdoor Oysters... on Christmas! 1

With the amazing temperatures we've had here on the east coast, and particularly here in New England, one of my oyster stumps has decided to flush almost into January!
This is a red maple stump that I plugged 2-3 years ago. It got colonized first by some wild turkey tails and a couple other random shelf species... and I didn't think my oysters would do much. Much to my surprise, they were secretly colonizing it from within the entire time!
They got a little waterlogged with all of the recent rain, but luckily it's been just cold enough that there aren't any bugs around. I'm hoping this stump will keep providing for at least a few years to come.

in I am new to mushroom hunting but found what I believe to be oysters as well here near Memphis on a hike. I have several sycamore logs inoculated on my patio that I feel much more comfortable about eating but I passed on eating the wild ones. I suppose I am just extremely cautious. I do enjoy my turkey tails though. Congrats on the flush that will make an excellent side to dressing.

well temps dropped down to well below freezing a couple nights ago, high twenties i think, but the pins survived just fine. this took out most of the buggers. then temps raised back into the 50s/60s with some rain, which jump started the oysters into their flush. there are some more pins that still have potential. if the weather keeps up, i will bump this thread with more pics if they fruit as well.
