Pressure Cooker, I read one of the cultivation teks and it said I could make the subsrate, put it into the jars and put them in a pot of boiling water, is a pressure cooker really necessary?  :mushroom2:

A decent pressure cooker is an excellent investment. Your chances of success are greatly improved. Also, it's likely that at some point you will want to use grains, and at that point a pc is necessary to avoid 100% contams.

Grains are just a different type of substrate. With PF tek jars you use verm/BRF as your substrate. Examples of grain substrates are millet, WBS (wild bird seed) and popcorn. Grains remain loose and can be shaken, spreading the mycellium and allowing the jars to colonize faster. Many people will tell you that using a grain substrate will produce more potent mushrooms, but I can't back that up with my own experience (have not yet grown with grains, but I hope to soon).
