Does anyone know what happens to the plants raceme? My blooming plant now has a limp raceme. I know its not water because I watered it generously yesterday. Do they just fall off or something? I've tried pollinating the blooms when I could, but I guess nothing took.

They are only there for a few days and then fall off.
I love the perfume from the flowers,

Here's my blooming plants raceme... The blooms that are missing were pollinated and dropped off naturally. I thought that they were pollinated anyway, but now that the raceme is kind of dropping off I'm guessing not.

I don't think they should be sagging down like that. Is the stem broken?

Nope. It feels like when a node or leave needs water. It's very soft and malleable.

Over watering produces some of the same symptoms as lack of water. Was the last watering the one you mentioned in that post? Is the soil too compact and takes days to dry out or does it remain wet for a while?

I water once every 10 or so days. The planet itself is not limp anywhere else, just that raceme. It's like the planet is purging it for some reason. I usually let the soil dry out to the point that leaves show sign of being limp. The soil is not compact, and the soil wetness depends on the temperature, it takes longer to dry out some weeks than others.

So everything is ideal it sounds like. I honestly have no clue beyond this. I wish you the best of luck. My racemes seem to have aborted, so you are in better shape than I. Hopefully someone else can solve the problem.

My other plant is also flowering, and I think another one is on it's way. I'll learn if this is a typical response for these plants, I guess.

I water every day. I have tried pollination with a small brush this year so I will have to see how it goes.

I ended up cutting off the raceme because it was showing the exact signs that the plant was purging it anyway. I got it in a book and am pressing it right now.

The peak of my flowers is over and I am not sure how well I did with the pollination. I am hoping that some of the calyx will remain and produce seeds but a lot seem to be falling off now.

I had some of my plants do that too and they are all in the same room. I think the aborted plants were getting too much artificial light brilliance. The plants away from the lights and nearer to the windows seemed to do much better and flowered well.

The guy that gave them to me had them in his greenhouse and had exposure to natural outdoor light at night. Mine are in a growroom with light timers. Some outdoor light makes it in i think. Odd though, that some people report having night time light exposure and still have healthy flower formation.

I am starting to think that it is the light intensity rather than the time of light exposure or maybe a mix of both
The plants had all started to flower outside and were brought inside. One plant nearest to the LED lights completely stopped flowering and no flowers came out. The plants nearest to the French Doors flowered very well.

Maybe they just prefer natural light? B
y a show of hands, How many people with flowering salvia plants have them in synthetic light vs natural? Mine are all in synthetic environments.
