WOW, my friend has a tun in tub thats easly gets to 85-86 and he bought the smallest heater he could find. That water level comes right up to the bottom of the other tub, and theres a towl below the jars and a towl over the top for some air exchange.

Sounds like you've got it really cold there. Why not wrap the top and side walls of the "tub-in-a-tub" incubator in a blanket to hold the warmth in.

100w heater in this one.

'Why not wrap the top and side walls of the "tub-in-a-tub" incubator in a blanket to hold the warmth in.'

is it better not to do this because you don't want a sealed environment for better air exchange,is it possible to keep the temp static without sealin.Actually I do the same as starter. Thanks!

I wrap my tub in tub with a blanket all the way around the sides and bottom and after closing the lid I lay a blanket on top. The jars or bags breath very little and dont need much air exchange. Nothing wrong with covering them. Not that I have found any how. I do look in on them from time to time tho.

This was my incubator/fruiting chamber setup in my closet for my first grow. When my jars were incubating I just put a blanket under the lid so light would not get in. A space heater with a thermostat would keep the jars at optimal temperatures.

How much water do you all put in yours? (in inches) and would a heater in a jug work with just a regular container?

When I didn't have the cash for a tub-in-tub incubator I just took one of my old aquarium heaters, like the normal ones that aren't submersible and put it in a tall glass of water and into an igloo cooler. I also had a piece of tin foil that covered the heater and top of the glass, so the water couldn't evaporate and condense on the walls of the cooler and be a contam. breeder. That worked perfectly though. I could only fit about 6-8 half pints in mine though, it was small.

I currently have everything in styrofoam coolers in my utility room. With the furnace and hot water heater, the room stays around 85 degrees F. The styrofoam guard against fluctuations in temperature when the furnace kicks on.

Summertime, tub-in-a-tub is the method I use.
