big mistake, worst conditions for growing

well, my mom found my incubator the other day. she said i'm going to rivendale and all these other bad things. well i said a smooth line, i guess, because now she has changed her whole mind and i'm not grounded or have to do chores or anything. (just like a bad dream and now i woke up) well she threw away everything.. and i found it in the trash, the cakes out of the jars. fully colonized. i read some where that a fully colonized cake can't get contaminated. so i took 2 of the four cakes out of the trash and made a casing. i have peat moss as a substrate.
my question is.. do i need to put some vermiculite in the casing? hhow sterile does everything have to be for a casing?
this is probably a complete failure but i'm okay with it. i'm not going to rivendale and i had fun with the expierance...

It amazes me that 3 or 4 times a week i have to say this, if your parents dont know what your doing, or dont approve of it DONT GROW IN THEIR HOUSE! You can cause your parents so much more shit then you know. just dont do it

I'd be a hypocrite to scold you for what you're doing. But needless to say if your mom finds out that you went behind her back again, you'll be in a lot of trouble.
Also that's false that a fully colonized cake can't contaminate. They are just more resistant to contaminates because the mycelium is strong enough to fight off most contaminates at that point. If they were in the garbage I would be surprised if your casing did not get contaminated.

Lol, you've only been here for a couple of weeks. You act like you've been here forever, and you give out a lot of incorrect advice. I know I haven't been here much longer, but you annoy me (I'm usually pretty tolerant of annoying people ). You're right though, if his parents don't approve then he shouldn't be growing.

yes i know it will be insanely strange if my casing works... but what about having only peat moss for a casing layer? do i need verm/coir? and i like your location...yes

I've heard of people successfully using just peat moss for a casing layer. You might want a ph buffer (such as lime flour), but I don't think it's necessary.

Generally the lime is added when you are mixing the casing layer. I don't know how effective pouring it on top would be, as only the very surface of the casing material would be affected.

maybe i could dig up a large amount of the layer (peat moss) with out touching the crumbled cakes.. and just make a new substrate with lime peat and verm...

are you 18? if your not, dont grow, please dont post about growing. the last thing we need is more negative attention. your parents could get in alot of trouble for letting you grow in there house.
if you are over 18 (which i doubt you are)...move the fuck outa your house, or wait till your out to grow.

Damn yer smooth holmes! Way to put one over on the person who raised you. save yer smooth lines for the other thirteen year olds, ok? by the way telling people shit like that is a great way NOT to get help.
