I'm a little worried this area on the right may be cobweb. If there still aren't any pins on it by the morning I'll pull out our real camera and try to get some better shots for a shroomery diagnosis.

Anyway, it's been 33 days since I started this project with a MS injection. Big thanks to everyone here for their help, especially Frank for his series on how he gets shit done.

Looks good to me. I don't see any cobweb mold.

want to clone a couple pin clones from this tub. Take from the lower right cluster and just drop it straight on agar? Or do it need a rinse before?

IMO, I would wait for them to grow large enough to take inner tissue.  When I take pin clones, I get them exclusively invitro from agar plates.

once primordia stage morphs into fruitbody development, I can increase my room temps back up to 70*F. Which means I can now go a head and spawn some envyss tubs.

This Cjar got me like :ewaahh:

So you guys put your grain in a bunch of separate containers? And then inoculate all of them.... separately? and then take all the small containers after colonization and add them to....another container? Full of uncolonized substrate? really?

I have a bunch of these cased PE shoebox style 6qt trays ready to fruit (left photo) trying to decide how to fruot them what do you guys think? I can only fit maybe 2 in a monotub, or I can flip an identical tray on top and do little dub tubs...

Second question. If you look at the right photo you see a different style tray, it has a cheaper lid that doesnt seal as well as the trays on the left. I only have 5 of them. They look like they're struggling to colonize, the one in the photo especially so.
I checked for field capacity but maybe I prepped on the dry side, its straight coir without vermiculite so maybe that added to it.

That or maybe the seal is just really weak and they're drying out some. Im leaning to this because the other style trays are doing great.

Anything I can do during the spawn run to help them?

Thx!

Amazing how much they can grow up in 12 hours:

And this is zoomed in on that nice cluster on the left:

I'll be doing my first cloning and spore printing tests with some from that cluster or the one in the top right of the first picture. I'm a little tempted to take from the cluster in the middle since I seem to be having more luck around the edges, so maybe those that made it in the middle are especially strong or likely to fruit? There are a couple little pins in the greyish looking mycelium, so I won't be treating it at all. Does cubensis mycelium just go gray sometimes or is there something more to it?

Lol I wouldn't eat that shit.... I should have taken pictures at some of my failed attempts one in particular never made it to inocuation! lol! Some type of mold took over and I actually grew it out....lol... It only colonized maybe 4inches into the "grain sub" but it was super thick...and nasty. That thing sat for some months till I took in the backyard and threw it in a big fire....not really...but I should of.

Don't think it's the coir. I have been casing my pe grain with straight coir and it rips through it no problem.

It does dry out kinda easy though. I have been starting fruiting as soon as I see myc starting to peek through the coir. They've been needing a mist or 2 before the coir becomes fully colonized due to the coir on top becoming dry.

I don't recall how long you PCed your monster jar for but unless it was like 3+ hours... you probably can't trust you'll get adequate sterilization. I'm not speaking from personal experience (though I did screw up some 1/2 gallon jars just doing 90 minutes). I just know that when the old hands talk about doing larger bags of substrate they talk about needing considerably longer PC times...

And in answer to your question, yes. Use the search engine and find G2G teks
(grain to grain teks)
