Cooking up my first batch of pf cornmeal pasty plates today. I'm transferring texas yellow cap, texas orange cap and envyss invitro pasty pins.

2 cups verm, 1 cup cornmeal and 1 cup of water makes 20 pasty plates.

Glad you're trying it man.  From what I've seen, PF substrate promotes more rhizomorphic growth than a straight cornmeal mush plate.  Maybe something about crawling between particles of verm, or lower nutritional density.  Really seems to love the cornmeal base, I'm very impressed.

IME, rhizomorphic growth makes larger LI particles, which resume growth more easily.  Not like a controlled experimental conclusion, just an impression,

I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister.  I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave.  I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent.

I'm not sure how ypu prepare the pf plates but I pressed the cake down a little bit. I figured it would prevent the myc from digging in too deep. I decided to try these pf cornmeal plates because I thought that the verm would make it easier to shake and break into pieces when dropped into grain jars. The problem with inoculating with cornmeal mush is that it doesn't break up it just collects grain kernels and forms a ball. I even tried cutting the plate into wedges but it just doesn't create enough inoc points. I hope this new method does the trick.

I just try to pack out any air pockets but not compress it otherwise.  Never really considered them for p2g, but I expect it will work pretty nicely.  The volume of mycellium is way high, and it should break into nice little kernels that will recover super fast.

This cake was probably about 50% 3-4 days ago, and is now ~75%, with a quarter of the substrate receiving no inoculation.  You can see it's being surrounded and colonized quite nicely.  I didn't inject into the cake, just two squirts down the side and two ontop.  Cake is about 1.2 cups steam sterilized.  I don't recall if I used gypsum.  Probably.  From what I've seen from PF tek, this is pretty impressive speed.  I wouldn't be suprised if you get full colonization on a little pasty plate in a week.

Masking tape may not provide enough give for the PC cycle.

Yeah but for the life of me I don't know which brands are officially considered 'micropore'

That's super interesting, are you down in South Amer?

What do they have in that medium, agar? What's their recipe? Why use such an odd bottle

What do they do with it after it colonizes? Reach in and transfer?

SE Asia.

They have PDA in there most of the time as far as I know.

I think they use it becuz it's somewhat flat when laid like that.

Hell...They even use cotton balls for GE.

I don't get it why they use it though.
Some mushroom entrepreneur mustve been spreading it's use up to this point.
It's also dirt cheap when sourced in a junkshop. Or free when you drink a lot.

YA.  I saw some pics of it in action. They reach in for some myc with a long scalpel...

Odd odd bottle indeed.

For some reason some of my agar wedges not unlike those have been... not recovering in my grain jars.  Not sure wtf is going on there.  It's like the mycelium dies when I cut it.
