Really happy for Holly Holm and Joanna Jedrzecyzk. JJ became one of my favorites to watch following the Carla Esparza fight.

here's why, they NEVER release the results before the fights, they claim they can't get them back quick enough, yet this time magically they have it!?!?!?! Then the UFC pretended cro crop didn't retire not saying a word about it, but seemingly does a press release coat tails behind the doping commish like maybe they are behind it.
I don't see a much of a need to speculate extensively past his own statements. He was injured, used HGH to assist with the injury and didn't get satisfactory results. And then add to that the fact that he's relatively old, had a ~20 year career in combat sports destroying his body, and has had a contentious relationship to MMA since the latter half of his Pride career. He's talked retirement since the heavyweight tournament, and this is, like, his third time retiring.
I was hoping he would announce retirement immediately following Gonzaga 2.

Oh nice. They moved the fight pass prelims from 4:15am to 5:00am. I'm adjusting the alarm clock setting as I type this.
Haha, there really is nothing like seeing MMA live though.

Joe Rogan claims there's a possibility that he might be leaving his post as UFC color commentator!
:shoosh:
Says it's because the Reebok deal is prohibiting him from wearing his Onnit shirt at weigh-ins.
Okay, so that part's not true.

It pains me to say this, but rogan has become so ridiculously biased that I wouldn't mind seeing him go at this point.
at one point, I loved joe rogan. I had thought if he left the ufc, it would never be the same watching an event again. but his ridiculous crush on ronda has been so off-putting that I find him obnoxious as of late. from his bullshit post fight interviews where he just kisses her ass the entire time, "youre the greatest. theres no one like you. this is incredible. youre the greatest female combat sports athlete ever. blah blah blah". and then watching his podcast when ronda was a guest, when he went on to say how he almost cries watching her fights because shes just SO amazing, n then went on to almost cry explaining this to her. I just found it/him really pathetic.
the steroid/weed/psychedelic abuse have run their course on mr. rogan.

His Ronda crush is/was quite embarrassing, but it exemplifies an aspect of his persona that I also appreciate- he's a huge MMA fan. He doesn't fake his excitement to meet champions and see ridiculousness unfold in the Octagon.
Mike Goldberg's the sportscaster and Joe Rogan's the one who can lend decently intelligent commentary on the technical aspects of the martial arts. He's a black belt in BJJ and black belt and former champ of TKD, not to mention has amateur kickboxing experience. But in addition to that, he's a witty stand-up comic who also really, really loves watching and discussing MMA. He's a professional shit talker and an expert.
Maybe my appreciation for Rogan comes of the severe lack of quality from the other commentators. Anik-Florian are terrible. Gooden-Hardy are a little better, but very biased. I almost wanted to watch UFC Fight Night 76 on mute.
If I had to pick a replacement from the current commentator roster, it'd be Brian Stann.

part of it is he trys to cater to the feminist crowd to draw in more viewers for his podcast, he usually speaks his mind but when it comes to feminism and womens issues he caves quickly pretty quick. I realize he has guests on to talk about feminism ect and he talks about certain things he doesn't like about it, but there's just this feminist vibe i get from him and im not sure if its real or just him trying to be "PC" to gain viewers, and yah i know he says alot of shit that isn't PC but clearly there's a line with women that he trys to not cross. im sure he doesn't want to alienate half his potential listening base.
So this thing with ronda i think he's trying to be all feminist about it, he's trying to relate to women and how its such a big moment for women and ronda's this great moment ect and he's trying to 'push' that. He always tip toes around anything ronda, and recently said sorry to cyborg about that dick joke he made...he's just turned into a big pussy. Prolly all those steroids n shit he takes threw he hormones off balance and he's doing a kaitlyn jenner

Stann is good but he can be a bit dull at times. I honestly think Mir does a great job commentating. When he was doing the wec shows he did a great job. I think one more loss retires him so id like to see him pick up the gig.

You get the feeling Brian Stann is going for Mike Goldberg's job if anything. Hearing Goldberg and Stann do commentary together is a trip.
Bring back Bas Rutten. I just to hear him talk about "the leeeeeeeeeever shot"

Yea I want Bas back. Mir had a tendency to ramble on, and I haven't been able to take him seriously ever since he got punished by Lesnar in the 2nd fight. Every time I hear his voice I just think of those big lunch boxes slamming into his face. Lunch box after lunch box.
But I didn't see anyone mention Sonnen. He's not terrible, and he can be funny. But I think he is biased toward favoring the wrestler guys.

A highly entertaining string of fights so far. Sage Northcutt is a socially strange but entertaining character. Like a home-schooled kid. VanZant met the fate a lot people assumed she would- outclassed by a more experienced and technical strawweight.
And I'm curious as to whether Mendes was fully recovered from the McGregor fight. It was a "flash knockout," but from a spectator standpoint, we can't really know how hard he was clipped.

Urijah Faber needs to retire asap.
It's actually sad watching this dude fight now. He is nowhere NEAR the level of fighter he once was. He's went downhill ever since the Michael McDonald fight.
Getting beat up by Frankie Saenz right now. Smh....

Haha getting beat up? He won every round! I do agree it looks like he's done though. He should have finished that fight in the 2nd round but couldn't do it. He would stand absolutely no chance against a top notch fighter.
