Tool has a song about this (H). I forget the condition, but it's something like larginectomy, which is the idea that crying is a way of healing.

What's coming through is alive.
What's holding up is a mirror.
But what's singing songs is a snake
Looking to turn this piss to wine.

They're both totally void of hate,
But killing me just the same.

The snake behind me hisses
What my damage could have been.
My blood before me begs me
Open up my heart again.

And I feel this coming over like a storm again.
Considerately.

Venomous voice, tempts me,
Drains me, bleeds me,
Leaves me cracked and empty.
Drags me down like some sweet gravity.

The snake behind me hisses
What my damage could have been.
My blood before me begs me
Open up my heart again.

And I feel this coming over like a storm again.

I am too connected to you to
Slip away, to fade away.
Days away I still feel you
Touching me, changing me,
And considerately killing me.

Without the skin,
Beneath the storm,
Under these tears
The walls came down.

And the snake is drowned and
As I look in his eyes,
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of those times.

I could have cried then.
I should have cried then.

And as the walls come down and
As I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of the times
I have died
and will die.
It's all right.
I don't mind.

I am too connected to you to
Slip away, to fade away.
Days away I still feel you
Touching me, changing me,

And considerately killing me.

it is cathartic, even breathing in in short inhalations and breathing out in long exhalations is why it releases tension I don't know some one here probably does

thats what i was thinking, but i really dont know shit about the human body.

i dont think i've ever cried from pysical pain alone. as a kid, it always took a while for the crying to begin. it was almost as if my perception of the pain was what caused the crying. i havent cried from pysical pain for years.

good question...
its an emotional release, a way for our bodies to relieve itself from overwhelming feelings of grief or happiness.
as for our eyes watering, its just one of the symptoms.

Lachrimology i believe was the word.

Whatever biologically causes it, it seems to be because of very impactful impulses affecting something we love (good or bad)

I used to hate crying and would try very hard not to.  Now, it seems like I cry a lot easier over things.

It does feel better.  However, there is one time and place you don't want to cry...

IN A COURTROOM, IN FRONT OF A JUDGE, WHO HAS JUST GOTTEN DONE CHEWING YOUR ASS!!!

Yea it's been a while since I cried. I kind of miss it actually.
Last time I cried was out of frustration from my dad.

I don't cry too often, but I do every once in a while. It's a way of coping I guess. It'd be better to cry about something and let it out than it would be to "bottle it up" and release it later, possibly at an inappropriate time. Different people handle things in different wayz. I know some people that if I saw them cry I'd probably fear for my life, hehe, 'cuz crying just isn't something they do and it would have to be *really* bad for them to cry. Others are quite emotional and cry over seemingly trivial things. (Although they obviously don't think it's trivial)

im gonna try and cry next time im physically hurt. i wonder if i stopped crying from physical pain becuase i was embarased or something, or just because. I now cry when i see something thats really emotionally moving, but usually its only from watching movies or reading books. in real life ive only really cried from being broken up over a girlfriend who left. actually i think i cried the other day when i was thinking about this budding relationship with this person im really into.

it never really helps me emotionally, but it just feels good sometimes. i usually feel weird when i cry from being happy, probably cause its a pretty new thing.

i think we stop crying from physical pain because it becomes less threatning and we are ussually able to do something to eleviate the pain. Emotional pain and pleasure sometimes leave you without any release, any clear cut choice on how to act.

The energy from your body moves like winds, when something excites these particles of energy, they form a rain cloud in your eye, and then you cry.

The neurons fire, whether it be physical pain or mental pain, some sort of sensory organ is triggered. The rain drops fall. Sometimes when i am saddest, i hope the rains come, and you can cry... and let the tears get lost in the rain.

:crying: Let the clouds take the pain away

sometimes the clouds are your only friend, and the water is the only thing you share within the two of you.

adrenalin can cause the eyes to water as well
in judo once some guy did a powerbomb on me (picking them up on your shoulders and dropping them sideways onto your head) which is illegal.
When i hit the ground i felt a twist in my spine, and for a minuite i couldnt move my arms or legs. I was freaking out and my eyes were tearing like nuts, and there was this crazy vibration in my back. I thought i was paralyzed

but i wasnt
thank GOD
