Pull the foil off that's just for the PC cycle to keep them dry
The dry verm layer is the barrier that acts like a filter to keep the ickies out

Except in this case it looks like an insufficient amount of dry verm to offer any protection. I'm not saying the verm will help, but there certainly isn't enough dry verm there. Dry verm should go all the way to the top.
Anyone ever point out that this thread is 5 times larger (reply count #) then any before? Props Sarahlove!

My little open air P.galindoi containers chugging along. Hoping the clusters in pic 1,3&5 mature to good size because I have 15 plates from 1 pin of each cluster. I really hope #3 has all fruits mature to decent size. It was hard to pluck a pin to clone because they are all almost fused at the base under the casing and sticking/growing out of a giant stone.
I'm loving the bizarre stripes these get on the stipes sometimes when you they pin open air.

I vary between MEA 30/20/1L and just a tad less agar from time to time for softer consistency. MEA has been my favorite for this hobby so far. Easy as fuck to make too

MEA makes the prettiest looking agar plates for sure, but it's important to rotate your media to keep the culture from getting lazy. Make that myc work for its food lol.
It's not hard to do that many edible grows at once. I'm getting started on lion's mane, elm oyster, king oyster, shiitake, and pioppino. I do all my work in my dual purpose spare bedroom. The left half of it is a study, and the right half is my grow area, and half of that half is occupied by my work table, flowhood, and autoclave, so I really only have about 50 square feet of grow space, and some of that is for my cacti. I have a 250w CFL grow light for all of it, and I fruit everything either in monotubs or open air. You can turn an unused monotub into a killer fruiting chamber. I haven't gone balls out yet, but each monotub can hold probably 15 sawdust bags.

Shit kalistis I forgot to mention that you might be putting a little much in your agar. I do 20g agar powder and 24g golden light malt extract per liter of water. The stiffer your agar is the more quickly it will dry out.
