Oh, i mostly agree but on some levels being a reality tv star has maybe helped him. It will be an interesting yet intensely depressing race to watch. When do the primaries end for gods sake?

The conventions are in July, so I guess by April or May we will know who is representing the parties.

oh my god, it feels like it will never end. as soon as the next president is established, they will start already talking about the 2020 race. maybe even before drives me mad.

As soon as obama got in the second time, straight away people were saying BUSH 2016? CLINTON 2016?? ffs...

Reagan was completely written off too, they said "an actor??? no way america will elect an actor!" the dems hated him, the GOP establishment hated him,

any of this sound familiar?

I'm not saying Trump is the next Reagan, but the similarities are striking, no?

Reagan was running after a completely inept liberal who was in way over his head, sound familiar?

Because, as much as the polls might say differently, people will simply not place their vote on a reality TV star for president.  It's not going to happen.

I'm going to vote for Trump. I could care less that he is a reality T.V. star.
1) I believe he will actually do what he says
2) He isn't a career politician
3) He is self supportive
4) I believe he will work with congress to get legislation passed

The fact that he was "a reality TV star" is now a distant memory.

There's no point in arguing against the faithful.  He won't be President in 2017 or ever.  Feel free to quote this if I'm wrong.

i agree with qman and others that most people that support him don't care he was a reality tv star, hes kind of gone beyond that in his general douchery.
i can understand why qman, HU and others might like him but i expected better of you my dear Enlil.

In your opinion, why do you think he would be

Because the President is largely a figurehead.  He gets the blame and the credit, but he doesn't really have much power or control.  Trump would be as good of a figurehead as anyone else, but he'd be far more interesting than any President that I can recall.

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Trump, but I'm a fan of two major policies that he promotes that the other politicians are not allowed to hold positions on- 1. Tariffs 2. Deportation of illegals and protecting the border.

To me it's about economics and nothing more, Trumps is spot on with how to fix it, for the record I have been advocating tariffs and deportation for many years, way before Trump campaigned on it.

The president has lots of power and control. I don't know where this idea comes from, but it is false. Sure the president gets credited for things he doesn't do, and blamed for things he has no control over, but that does not mean he doesn't have power. I'm not sure what your angle is here, but it sounds like you may be trotting down towards conspiracy avenue.

I've seen many presidents come and go, and not a single one made a significant impact IMO.  You can disagree all you want, but that is my observation.  Given that, I'd rather have an entertaining President than a boring one.
