My Peyote Just Arrived...
    #2262115 - 01/22/04 06:53 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I thought it got confiscated, but it showed up today.

Um... what now? hehe

I haven't gotten anything for it yet because I figured it would need a day or two to get adjusted to the warmth and everything and I didn't want to go on about having to go get soil for a catcus and then it never showing up, and then having to explain that maybe it was confiscated... wouldn't go over well.

Anyways, I'm figuring that gardening isn't going to be that big of a thing here, since it is Norway and all, so I'm sort of wondering what is the most basic kind of soil and stuff I can get for it so that it will survive. I'm figuring all the fancy stuff isn't going to be able to be found here...

Of course, when I come back to the States in June I will be able to get it the finest soil and fertilizers and stuff. I'll probably ask to go somewhere to get what I need tonight, so would like normal catcus potting soil work, or something?

Anyways, let's say I get what I need tonight.. should I just put it in then? Or wait like a day or something? Anyways, thanks for the help, I'm about to open it on up and take a peek at the little guy.

I'm so excited! hehe
Peace.

I just opened it. Cute little guy.

There was a note that said "make sure you use catcus soil, don't water until growing season starts, otherwise you could kill it".

I'm assuming that while just ordinary catcus soil wouldn't be the best, it would definitely work. And when would the growing season start? I'm guessing it is dormant now, and that it wouldn't need to be planted right away, or something. At any rate, I'm going to go ask about getting catcus soil now.
Peace.

I remember looking at it; I'll pull it back up and take a closer look. Thanks again for sending it, and reminding me, it completely slipped my mind.

Okay, so it should be okay to wait until we go shopping on Saturday, then...

About it being dormant, what causes it to go dormant? Is it just a seasonal thing? Is 20 degrees celsius (what my room's heater is set at) going to fuck with it at all? *goes to do some research*
Peace.

See if you can get ahold of something called DampRoot (or something along those lines) for when you first water it. Just mix a little in with the water. Sometimes the roots could end rotting, and thats not a good thing. it usually happens the first watering, so if u can manage it then your in the clear.

Hey guys. Sorry for not having any pictures yet, my camera has no batteries. hehe.

Anyways, I got some catcus soil for my peyote awhile back and it has been in a really nice looking pot since.

I've been told that it is dormant now, and it isn't its season.... I'm wondering where I can find more information on this. I'm wondering it it will stop being dormant since it is warm in here and it could get more light if I had it by the window...

Basically, I'm wondering if it needs to be put in the light and watered, or something... sorry I can't ask this more clearly, but I'm tired.
Peace.

as you probably know peyote go dormant in winter. when they are dormant dont water them or water them very rarely. they wont receive much sun by a window unless it is in direct sun. I recommend fluros for winter in fact i use fluros all year round. you can get more info from here
