I just spawned a bunch of these instead of a couple tubs, 1 qt to 3 qts coir. Its PE so Im gunna case but also because Im not sure how Im going to fruit them.
The "shoe box " trays I get for like a buck or less each, they're real easy to clean and its real easy to mix your spawn and sub up perfect and get the surface level. Plus with my mold troubles lately dividing up my spawn isn't the worst idea
Well see how they fruit worst case theyre easy to clean

Still not seeing anything.. Either way, the bacteria will out run the mycelia. IMO
Not sure if you're familiar with the sandwich method but I say you sandwich that dish with another layer of MEA; trapping the bacteria beneath the new layer and somewhat keeping it in stasis. Once & if the mycelium breaks through the new layer take a transfer into a new dish asap. (be sure not to grab the first/old bacterial layer of MEA)

Just going to give it about three or four more days and make a transfer. That bacteria has been in the same spot for a week already.

I just loaded up a couple of those myself, I really like em, plus they're only 94 cents at walmart. Forgot to take pics of the last couple I did in them, but this was my favorite:

Those buggers were tiny, but potent as fuck!

That was just grated and cased brf cakes btw. The other ones I've done were wbs to cvg, in a greenhouse. Nothing spectacular because I was still trying to dial in the greenhouse (as well as make it oyster-friendly, the tubs went through so many environment changes that they gave up after one mediocre flush)

NumeroEno said: Honestly I went through the same thought process. The thing is that you will inevitably end up working with spawn bags if you stay in the hobby long enough. That's when those extra 6 inches really make a difference. Even medium spawn bags are pretty tall, and I feel like if my filter were only 18" it would be much tighter. The extra height of the filter is like a bigger cushion against the outside air. I hope you can find a good deal on a blower. I decided that I wanted the model that fungi perfecti sells, which is the Dayton 1TDU2. FP sells it for 320, and I got it for 180.
My primary concern when building the hood was that it wasn't underpowered, so I went for the balls out powerful blower and put a speed controller on it. The speed controller is super slick. 20 bucks at harbor freight.
Hmm. Yeah, I'm already pretty sure I'm going to be working with bags. Pretty sure I should just go for the 24.
Any reason not to just go with FP for the filter? Am I going to be able to find a similar quality filter for much cheaper by shopping around? The benefit with going through them, of course, is that I know I'm getting something perfectly suited for what I want.
I'm 100% completely satisfied with the FP filter. I highly recommend it. If there's one thing you definitely shouldn't cheap out on it's the filter. Just remember that the blower you want is the Dayton 1TDU2. It might be 300ish through a HVAC store, but there are some really good deals on eBay.

You can take a tissue sample from dry mushrooms, or so I hear, make up some agar and give it a shot.
