a casing disaster??
    #2260899 - 01/21/04 09:26 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

Okay I cased about 3 days ago. my bottom layer was vermiculite. The middle layer was 1 pint cake which was crumbled the size of marbles. My top layer was moist vermiculate str8 vermiculite that I nuked for 10 min. When I opened up today I saw white fuzzy shit growing... except I knew it was cobweb mold although it didn't smell. But I refused to waste a cake. So I took out all the chunks of mycelium. It had grown by the way. And I threw away all the vermiculite. Then I proceeded to put the chunks in my sterlized sink and filled it up with warm water. This washed off all the bad vermiculite and all I had was my chunks. THen I put these chunks into another sterilized casing tray and added a layer of sterlized verm. on top. Ummmm... is anyone else out there wondering why I was so stupid? I don't think this will work at all but it was worth a try right? What do you guys think? Plz don't be mean and call me names ok? I'm just trying to trip ok?

could work never know....tho I must admit I have my doubts that it will..how do you know for sure it was cobweb? I've been fooled rescently by wispy mycelium and I've had a descent amount of experience with both mycelium and cobweb

I figured it was cobweb because there was no connection to the lower level of mycelium. it was just growing on the upper layer of the casing. but I didn't want to run the risk of it attacking my cake. I don't think it could have been wispy mycelium... damnit I hope it wasn't but I am crossing my fingers and hoping this works.

sometimes you get a stray chunk of mycelium in the casing layer that can do something similar to that......well at this point it dosen't matter anyways just gotta hope the new casing works out  and if it dosen't try again
