If you could do me a favor and read the rules, that would be great.

Do I sense some Office Space here?

Sean, do some reading before posting this kind of questions here. We're all very happy to help you, as long as you show some effort yourself as well.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

more of less, yes.

whether you find what you are looking for in the FAQ, you still may not make posts which are in violation of the rules.

there is information covreing your questions in previous posts here on the boards, you have to look for it. moreover; you have to actively look for it, not just do one searh and tel us you *couldn't* find anything.

this post is not meant to be harping on you becaus you are new, it is meant to inform you about the way we do things.

there are mushrooms in Arisona; though, not any indigenous psilocybian mushrooms to my knowledge. there is a limited seection of edibles. i know you might have trouble finding documentation about them, and i am sorry. some mushrooms you will be able to find are:

Various Agaricus species: the genus from which the white button mushroom, portabella and many other edibles come from. this genus is tricky and not well suited for beginners or rash persons.

Marasmius oreades: a common invader of well irrigated [sprinklers] sub-urban lawns.

Various puffballs: well disposed towards those transient grasslands which develope during the seasoanl rainy periods [monsoons].

If you read the FAQ, then you know that Panaeolus subbalteatus grows there.

As far as edibles, your best season is late summer, when the monsoon rains are coming through.

Boletus edulis and Boletus barrowsii are both found in quantity there (Chuck Barrows is from Arizona). For a book specifically on mushrooms in Arizona, check out Jack States Mushrooms and Truffles of the Southwest. He was a professor in Arizona for a long time; now he's retired and living in Wyoming.

Happy mushrooming!
