Hello everyone, first time growing and everything seems to be going well. I have one question, there are mushrooms growing on the side of what i guess you call a mono tube but they arent past the top surface of the compost i was wondering will they grow up the side of the tube correctly or is there something i gotta do? Help.

Wrong forum dude, post at Mushroom Cultivation. But to answer your question, that is just side-pinning and happens if you don't use a liner before mixing in your substrate/spawn. You want the sub to shrink with the liner so no air gaps are created, therefore pinning will only occur on the surface of the sub.

adding the liner helps by not creating a micro-climate. My main question is do you have any holes in that "monotub"?

The pinning is constant all throughout the box, theres a constant dribbing from the top of the box and good condensation holding on the sides. I didnt see a reason to put holes. Unless im wrong. Kinda new to this but it seems to be working.

It's good that you have holes at the top to dispel the co2 laden air and circulate fresh air, but how many holes do you have near the surface layer?
Remember, they should all be covered with polyfill, to promote proper FAE and not dry out the surface. I always refer back to Frank's tek in regards to the top holes.
Bottom holes should be stuffed tight to allow a good amount of humidity at the surface to promote strong pin formations.

If you mean top by lid, then keep an eye on the base of the mushrooms. I wouldn’t be surprised if you end up with alot of really fuzzy stems because of lack of FAE. Mushrooms like quite a bit f fresh air and if you only popped a couple holes in the lid it probably won't do it, I'd keep an eye on it.
