I Just Saved A Guy's Life 8

Sitting here at work, the window to my right faces a 6 lane boulevard in a rather large city. I had just taken a dab with a coworker and came back out to a loud "boom"!
I looked out the window and about 100 feet away in the middle of the road there is a man rolling on the ground while cars fly by him at around 40 mph.
So, I run out there immediately and this dude had hit the cub on a Scooter, Vespa style. I kind of got traffic to stop, helped the dude up and got him to the sidewalk. Stopped traffic again so I could go back and bring his scooter to the side. The thing was just leaking gas, probably not smart to have lifted it and rolled it back but it's what went through my mind.
Anyways, I have him sat down, he's going in and out of conscience and finally my coworker comes running out filming this shit while I'm yelling at her to call 911. People really have to stop filming shit and help out. Anyways, a few squad cars arrive, told them what happened followed by the EMT's.
I don't know if I saved the guy's life as suggeested in the title, but I feel pretty damn heroic right now.

I'm glad you're not a slacktavist (recored it with their phone or post in on social media and feel they're helping) and you took the initiative to help someone in need!
While im sure your adrenaline is pumping you should feel good about yourself man!
Happy to hear you were able to help! hope the guy is all right man that sounds pretty intense!

Kudos for doing the right thing! I don't doubt you could have saved the guy. Not everyone is so lucky. I once had a friend Edy who was already in a wheel-chair when she had been run over. One car would have been bad enough ... She was actually run over by 3 cars that did not stop!

Thanks. It was some weird instinct I hadn't really ever felt before.
I'm extremely upset at the amount of cars that drove by, maybe a dozen and didn't even blink an eye. Instead sped up not to deal with it.

Good for you dude. Pretty admirable. Were you in much danger yourself or was stopping the traffic easy enough? I probably wouldn't risk my life to save a stranger's unless there was no way I would get killed myself in the process. I'm not sure if that makes me an asshole or not

I watched a gore video lately where some dude had apparently lost a family member in a car wreck where the car caught fire and scorched the body completely.
The dude was bawling, and who can blame him, but the odd thing was he also had his cell-phone out and he was snapping photos. It was just bizarre. I think some other countries view death differently, some are more reverent and some less. At least in that case there was nothing he could have done to help, and the victim was already dead. People who go for the camera rather than help, comfort the dying, or at the very least show so modicum of respect need to learn some empathy.
U da man kron, hope the dude is allright.

I don't think I was in much danger to be honest with you. The speed limit is 40 and I just inched my way into traffic. Again, it was really just instinct that I didn't really know I had. It was the dabs, I tell you!

He'll be ok I think. I walked back to the area where he along with the police and EMT were about 10 minutes after they arrived. The guy thanked me which was really nice. Felt special
He was pretty coherent by that time and the paramedics had him bandaged up pretty well. I'm thinking just a lot of stitches and concussion, but I'm far from a doctor.

I often wonder if feeling good about myself for doing something any kind human would do is even worth mentioning. I appreciate you guys listening to my story though.

It's kind of cool how your instincts take over in situations like this and you don't think you just do what has to be done. It's kind of like being possessed in a way. Kudos for helping the guy out. Hopefully he recovers well.

Exactly. That's what I've been thinking about since it happened. Didn't think about the situation at all while it was going on. I had a lifeguarding job for roughly a month when I was 18 and I had to pull a couple obese French Canadians out of rip currents but that was nothing compared to today's incident.
