"That is exactly what I was referring to. In my view that is just another example of the naturalistic tendencies of science blurring the distinction between life and non-life. It is an attempt, no matter how veiled, to include metaphysical naturalism within methodological naturalism.

Common sense would tell anyone that viruses are alive.

If viruses aren't alive then what about other parasites, i.e. mistletoe, etc? "

awesome point

damn, I'm still wondering where it says that science says these things aren't alive....but from how seuss said it, it sounds like they have.  :nonono:

I guess this is one of my misconceptions hehe

so is to be alive to know what you are doing and to do what you need to do without relying on something else?  heh if that's the case then non of us are alive hehe

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

DNA definitly has power. My Grandfather (who died last week) had a rare condition where his chemical markers in his DNA were tweaked and his own immune system started attacking his own skin causing him to shed like a snake. It almost killed him. The doctors don't know what caused it or what made it go away, but they said maybe only 2-3 people in the entire world have this condition at the same time. Knowing my Grandfather, he probably just willed himself better so he could go to work. The power of the mind is greater than the power of DNA. I hope this condition is not hereditary!

Computer viruses have the ability to reproduce. They can sit on a computer and duplicate themselves and can continue on infecting computers from there....

We probably wouldn't say that computer viruses are alive. They are just programs given capabilites of duplicating and spreading....

Maybe all of us aren't truly alive, just programmed to function as we do. Or something. :nut:
Peace.

Plants are alive, do they know what they are doing? i dunno myself. Bacteria have consciousness wouldnt you agree? what came before bacteria? it probably had a consciousness too. before before before.

I can't give you my exact definition of consciousness. But plants and bacteria don't have consciousness according to my definition.

I think by consciousness...he means "alive".

In a sense.

Hackers and the like program and write viruses that attack your pc and whatnot.

Who, or what, writes and programs nature's viruses? :nut:

That's what I'm saying.  :nut:

We're just programs, is all.. programs with the ability to program. The ability to conceptualize is crazy.

the viruses that people program dont evolve the are and always will be the same unless the programmer reprograms the code.

What would the force be called that programs all of Nature's 'programs', viruses included.?

No one! It is just a mechanism, it is GOD. Maybe...? it is the essence of nature? The programmer, the program, the evolving maker.

I do! By the way, do you always put the code for the colour red after your posts so if someone quotes it, what they type turns red? You sneaky bastard!

You can never know if you are just a program or not, can you? This thing called "life" is pretty fucking crazy...  :nut: *whispers "I'm still somewhat sick, by the way."* hehe
Peace.

No one! It is just a mechanism, it is GOD. Maybe...? it is the essence of nature? The programmer, the program, the evolving maker.

Now then, with this conclusion...it must be obvious that there IS a 'higher power' in the Universe. Perhaps it IS the Universe. Hmmm...we'll find out, when we go back. (again)

FireworksGod, shh..damnit, now you're gonna let everybody know of my diabolical scheme to paint the town red. er, bulletin board I mean. I demand your post be erased immediately.
I just want my divider to be red.

You are one insane man, my friend. (On a side note, to note yet one more synchronisity that I've been experiencing, at the very moment I typed "my friend", Jim Morrison sang "my friend" in the song The End...  :nut:)

By the way, are you going to the Gathering in June? You fucking should!

Notice my post is red?

Um, even if it was a minute or so afterwards, where he sings "all the children are insane", can that be lumped in with this synchronisisty?  :smirk: I swear to god he is just freestyling these vocals... as I recall, he was on acid that day in the studio. hehe

(promises to never post again while feverish and sick)
Peace.

That is what happened when I quoted Skorpivo.  I didn't realize that there was a "red" code that caused my whole post to turn red, causing me, in turn, to think that that was somehow the start of being in "the Twilight Zone".
