Minor HPPD or...?

This is something that I notice pretty consistently if I take the time to stare at something that has a simple texture to it, typically the fabric of carpet.
I'm able to see it as a whole, while a part of my brain attempts to perceives each individual strand. But as this process happens, this process results in each individual strand not being stationary/static, it will instead start to flow. But it isn't necessarily the strand that's flowing, but it looks more like how visual static would look like, except each particle of static is the size of the strands in the texture that Im perceiving (in this case, the carpet).
So I was wondering if this is a common visual hallucination or if it might associate more with symptoms of HPPD?

I get this too. I've always just felt that because of my explorations in psychonautical engineering, that I'm just more open now to perceiving my reality in non-ordinary ways, even when I'm not in an altered state.

Whether it's HPPD or not probably depends on how significant the experience you mention in the OP is to you. It's not a well studied disorder, but it has been linked to PTSD (So correlated with strong, irrational anxieties) and schizophrenia (so disorganized thought processes).
If you notice that you aren't quite functioning the same as you used to, you should probably lay off the psychs (maybe weed too, since it promotes anxiety, too) for a while so it doesn't become worse. It doesn't sound that bad now though, so there's probably no need to worry.

^ HPPD isnt related to schizo in any way. Ptsd, anxiety and ocd, yes. Schizo, not so much. Both have visual aspects but hppd isnt schizo-like hallucinations.

I get this and have for a while. It is almost like you can see the energy glow of everything. As long as I am not focused on it I don't notice it too much.
It doesn't get in the way of anything and sometimes it adds extra beauty to the scenery.

I would like to ask my own question on this thread, since it seems relevant and I don't know how to start new topics. Though I have not tripped in weeks, I still have tracer effects when objects move through the air, and occasionally if I sit still the world around me starts to spin and I have also experienced seeing movement in things like SomeGuyX said. It is not at the point where I feel as if I am completely tripping, but it is definitely noticeable. Does anyone know what this could mean?

Yeah mine aren't like that at all. That seems more like HPPD than what I have. Give it some time and try not to think about it. It will cease.

well i have been taking psychedelics for years and i have spent quite some thought on this too. there was a time when i was worring about it- for me, it was not only optical shit but really more of a personal dimension that was irritating. you know, when you have this acid-like feeling of "she thinks that i think ... because i just looked that way/said that word". and i besides intellectually knowing that it cannot be a psychosis because if it were i would not be able to have this kind of reality check- i would be completely absorbed by the experience- i just have to say, yes, the psychedelic experience changed the way i percieve the world! i now see it as a kind of learning, you know, you probably know the feeing of when you study something you start seeing that everywhere- a neurobiologist friend of mine, she always sees neurons when fyling in a plane over a city because they look very similar in the microsope.or, if you are learning the rules of the street when doing your driving licence, you start noticing how many people break the rules. so what i want to say, i apprecite everything i have leart from my experience with psychedelics- also these side effects of percieving patterns and light somewhat different sometimes. i like the feeling and i actually mostly use it in a positive way: if i feel like i need it, i can close my eyes and play around a little, remembering the good feelings and remembering that everything is there and that i am okay and so on... that feeling that we all like when taking these substances my theory is that if you worry about and if you feel anxious then maybe there were some other things that you became aware of during your trip which were hard to stand or which you wish that were not there. but you cannot undo that and so it does make itself noticeable somehow. this also happens to me and when i have this strange thing with people i have leared to accept it, go into it, and then i am able to feel it very well and suddenly the awkward situation is not so awkward anymore. because this thing i was experiencing also is real, its my reality and sometimes if its the right timing i just make a comment or something. really, i have been educated in many ways by these experiences. sometimes the lessons are quite intense and hard to manage but thats life i guess. i hope this is of some use and i hope you get to surf that experience!

Right, delusional thinking, hallucinations, and disorganized thought processes is nothing like schizophrenia... The delusions may not be paranoid or grandiose by nature, but the conditions HPPD and schizophrenia are related. Not that either are well studied or that these hairs are worth splitting.
There are only so many systems in the brain and many disorders work on similar parts in different ways to produce different, but similar symptoms. I think you're more noticing that being at risk for PTSD puts you at risk for HPPD (and vice versa), where the same findings are not reported for schizophrenia and HPPD. The symptoms are still similar, you can't deny!

^ All the things you wrote are also symptoms of depression, anxiety, and dp\dr (less delusional thinking, though). The diagnose depends on the severity of the symptoms.
If one were schizo he wouldnt think that either his thought process is messeed up or that his delusions\hallucinations arent real. Also, HPPD "hallucinations" are more like illusions, you dont see unicorns and aliens flying in your room or shadow people stalking you.
I'm not saying symptoms arent similar, just saying that those are symptoms of almost any psychological problem. Telling someone he's schizo wont help in anything beside raising his already existing anxiety levels.
