found growing on fallen tree in washington state gills are white attached to the stem. stem is weak seems hollow. the shrooms are turning kinda pink wile drying. spore print is brown can see through the skin at edges of cap. it was kinda slimy when I picked it. Im having trouble determining if it bruses any color. these specimens were very large from 2 to 6 inches in diameter. usually growing in pairs or clumps of at least 4.

I'd say Honey Mushroom (armillaria species).

if your sure the spore print is brownish colored then it appears to be a Stropharia rugoso-anulata.
please take a spore print to make sure. with that specimen it should only take an hour or two to get a solid spore print.

As Magma suggested, make sure you actually make a spore print (use white paper for identification purposes). Judging spore color from gill color will cause you to make mistakes.
At first glance, I agree with koraks guess - that looks like a Honey Mushroom. They seem to be coming up all over lately.
If the spore print comes out a dark purplish brown, then Stropharia seems a good guess.
If it comes out some other color, let us know.
Happy mushrooming!

after refreshing myself with stropharia, stropharias do not have light gills like that.
i doubt the spore print will come out to be purple-gray or purple-black. but what am i? im mad.

thanks for the input. spore print is light brown. I pretty sure its a honey mushroom. I decided these are not ps cyanescens, which I thought they might be when I saw them in the field, so I will toss them. thanks again.

How did this turn out? A. mellea don't have light brown spore prints. I have my own possible Armillaria to share anyway.

Yes they have white spore prints staining from a yellowish to a reddish color. From Audubon's Field Guide.
