Yeah, I know a lot of people that use the group as their higher power. My guess is this guy does plenty of service work...the 12th step...this really works and is certainly a step in the right direction.

I'm still trying to figure out how to surrender daily to my higher power.. sometimes things happen in my life everyday where I take my will back and mess up stuff even more. Is this normal Mark?

I think that(Taking back/messing up.) is just part of the human condition, not too much of a personal flaw.  Pretty normal.

Maybe taking a closer look at what you're calling your higher power, and how it relates to who you are as a person.
It really can be anything, but, you are capable of anything, including staying strong during rough patches for your own benefit.  So, maybe, you can be your own higher power.  Believing in yourself and doing your best everyday to maintain stability and not submit to the chaos, and rather than yield to the higher power, you harness it and let that positivity have an impact on your life while you still remain the true power.

There's no way to predict anything and having expectations generally results in a change of- But to be aware, acknowledge the factors involved, and finding a healthy way to extort that energy is a blessing.  Things are very moment to moment.  One moment on top of the world, next moment full of doubt and fear, next moment being humbled by a dog, next moment making dinner, etc.

A bit of ramble, but my 2 cents.

We're all gonna make it.

That is wonderful!!! Keep doing what you're doing....And, Shane...I say my prayer every morning as soon as I wake...asking God to help me do do His or Her will and to help me to not take a drink...That way...I get the prayer in before the idiot takes over...(idiot being me...lol). Also, you can start your day over any time...I take my will back as much as anyone..but, the difference is that we recognize it...that is when the Serenity prayer comes in handy. We also have a 10th step checklist to do at the end of the day...this helps keep us stay grounded....No one ever said this shit was easy, but the glimpses of peace we get are worth it. Peace of mind is NOT overrated.:sunny::peace:

I'm really angry at God right now and refuse to pray. I can't even begin to really tell you my anger for it is very great.

How far along are you in your steps? You may want to revisit your 4th. Also, you may want to consider stepping up your meetings. Two years is still early sobriety Shane...I consider up to about 8 yrs. to be early. Call me if you need to talk.

I'm an alcoholic and my problem is Vince.
Jan 3, 2014 is the first day of my new life without alcohol.

I could never have put together 820 some days without some faith in my higher power and the support of AA.
I've cursed God plenty in my life too. In hindsight, it was usually me that I was angry at.
And anger is a very dangerous trigger for me.

God didn't give me cirrhosis or HCV, didn't foreclose my Catskill vacation property, or sell off all my stuff.

At this point I just want to not drink today and try and stay positive and proactive in my daily doings.

I'm not particularly happy where I'm at these days, but I'm not drinking today and that is a miracle...:voila:
Stay strong brother...:rockon::hug: . . . :peace:

My "coming to believe" came about by saying a prayer every morning even though I wasn't sure about this God thing....I did it because I was willing to go to any length and that was it...I didn't have to believe, they told be to pray anyway...every day. Ask to do God's will and to help you not take a drink or drug.

It was by doing this that I soon started seeing answers to prayers...God started showing up in undeniable ways. Keep doing what you're doing and this feeling will subside.:sunny::peace:

What is your part in this?...also, Many times ...answers to prayers don't look that way at first...I usually see where God was working in hindsight.

Hi all!

Shane - sorry you're not in a good place. It's not permanent - I promise!

Today is day 90 for me.

3 FREAKING MONTHS!

Tomorrow, day 91, will be the longest I've gone without alcohol in almost 20 years.

:snowman:
