Just wanted to mention that Vinsue passed away a few days ago from heart failure. We spoke fairly often usually over his struggles with this disease. He managed  several long periods of sobriety and whole heartedly accepted the program of AA. Vince was a strong member of the Shroomery and will be missed by a lot of us. I know that I will miss him...the dude never had a bad thing to say about anyone.:sunny::peace:

I am going to post here whenever I want to have a beer.  Currently it's been 36 hours at least without one.  I've never had a serious problem but decided the other day if I willingly consume poison I don't enjoy the effect of I can't not be a little bit problematic in my usage.  It's time to kick alcohol outta my social club---that much I do know.  It's gotta GOOOO!

I went to a meeting in Toronto today, it was cool, they had three meetings in the same building, a bigbook meeting (that's what I went to), a 12&12 meeting, and a meditation meeting

Started right at the doctors opinion too, xxv, read 2 pages and shared

Tomorrow is my fellowships big workshop, 2-6 est

Realroll, show up and learn the steps, I'll post the zoomlink tomorrow

Checking in another day sober.  Ive been practicing keeping an eye on how I feel and trying not to act on resentments.

I have bad days and good days but i have noticed I have way more good days than bad now.

I can see the effects of the program based on how I act while at work and how i treat others.  I used to just have this default of almost just hating people at work wondering how they are going to try and screw me over. Now I kind of rely on my higher power to help others at work realizing they probably have their own problems.  Now I dont let myself be taken advantage of or exploited either.  Working the program honestly has given me the ability to tell people to fuck off from a place that isnt rooted in resentments if that makes any sense haha.  Nothing really bothers me there as much as it used too.

The more i work this program and continue recovery the less desire I have to be in the military. I Have thought about this for about a year now but I do not believe getting out of the service and pursuing a different career path is a Geographical.  I am beginning to believe my career in the military actually is/was my geographical to run away from alcholism.

Like honestly one of the gifts the program has given me is this ability to not give a fuck in the most healthy way possible if that makes any sense.  Like it isnt apathetic or anything like that.  I used to give to many fucks was always worried i wasnt doing good enough and all that bullshit that definitely used to lead to drinking.

Now I just dont give a shit about things that arnt really important.

Im kind of rambling haha but i can tell my recovery is entering a new phase.

Thanks for listening.  I hope you are all doing well.

Also here is a song from the strokes i used to listen to when I was 18 and a freshman in college writing this reminded me of it for some reason.

I heard someone talk about when they have a resentment they know they did something irresponsible

That was a total god shot for me because I had a resentment at work that was caused by something irresponsible I did

I started fantasizing about repercussions, like nothing came of it but I was already running through scenarios in my head and building a resentment in my head on what I precieved was going to happen, all because I did something irresponsible

I can kill myself on thoughts in sobriety just as easy as I was on a bottle

Online copy of the AA Big Book: http://www.aa.org/pages/en_US/alcoholics-anonymous

Let us open the meeting with a moment of silence to do with as you wish followed by the Serenity Prayer:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot
change,
Courage to change the things I can, and
Wisdom to know the difference.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience,
strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to
recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not
wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes.
Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

How It Works

Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path. Those who do
not recover are people who cannot or will not completely give themselves to this
simple program, usually men and women who are constitutionally incapable of being
honest with themselves. There are such unfortunates. They are not at fault; they seem
to have been born that way. They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a
manner of living which demands rigorous honesty. Their chances are less than average.
There are those, too, who suffer from grave emotional and mental disorders, but many
of them do recover if they have the capacity to be honest.

Our stories disclose in a general way what we used to be like, what happened, and what
we are like now. If you have decided you want what we have and are willing to go to
any length to get it — then you are ready to take certain steps.
At some of these we balked. We thought we could find an easier, softer way. But we
could not. With all the earnestness at our command, we beg of you to be fearless and
thorough from the very start. Some of us have tried to hold on to our old ideas and the
result was nil until we let go absolutely.

Remember that we deal with alcohol – cunning, baffling, powerful! Without help it is too
much for us. But there is One who has all power – that One is God. May you find Him
now!

Half measures availed us nothing. We stood at the turning point. We asked His
protection and care with complete abandon.
Here are the steps we took, which are suggested as a program of recovery:

The Twelve Steps
1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol - that our lives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our
wrongs.
6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure
them or others.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we
understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that
out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message
to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Many of us exclaimed, “What an order! I can’t go through with it.” Do not be
discouraged. No one among us has been able to maintain anything like perfect
adherence to these principles. We are not saints. The point is, that we are willing to
grow along spiritual lines. The principles we have set down are guides to progress. We
claim spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection.

Our description of the alcoholic, the chapter to the agnostic and our personal
adventures before and after make clear three pertinent ideas:
(a) That we were alcoholic and could not manage our own lives.
(b) That probably no human power could have relieved our alcoholism.
(c) That God could and would if He were sought.

I'm 5 and 1/2 years alcohol free and I did not need to follow these steps to do it.

It was absolutely human power that relieved my alcohol misuse; my own human power.

The All That Is is almost certainly not concerned with whether I drink or not.

The three types of addicts are on
pages 20-21, 2 of the three can stop for sufficient reason, the true addict, a type 3 is beyond human aide, think the type of person who's told they have 10% of a liver left and still go out to drink,

beyond sobriety the book is a general design to living, theres also people who stop drinking and pick up people, scrolling, money, ect, all the acting out addictions

Congratulations on the sobriety, I quit (alcohol) with out the steps too if you dont count a day in august where I amtried to get drunk of lorazampams and accidently took more then I meant to and while "drunk" off pills I took a swig of wine, (bad day for me) I have years, not even sure cause I didnt make a conscious decision to quit, I just lost the taste because of kratom
