Take your 24 hr. chip and put it in your mouth. When it melts, you can take a drink....Until then, get to a meeting. Think hard about that third tradition printed on the blinds hanging on the wall. If the answer is yes, throw yourself into the program like jumping from a sinking ship to a life boat. Compare yourself in and not out like your ego wants you to.
Ask God for help.:pm:me if you ever want to talk.:sunny::peace:

Here's yet another use for the white chip, go in the bathroom set the chip on the toilet seat, then try to break the white chip into peices using your forehead. When you wake up you will be laid out next to the toilet feeling like you are a bit hungover, and you may remember how it feels after you drink. You will also have a nice shiner to remind you not to drink.

Our first chips are silver. Also our group doesn’t call it the 24 hour chip just like the willingness or give it a try or first time chip.

Anyway it’s good to see someone take that chip. It’s like the fight is on!

I heard some guy talk about being a stock broker at a major company and doing cocaine lines at work and sleeping under the desk.

I've heard and lived similar stories and they always progress and get worse unless a surrender is made. Alchoholism has no bounds it affects every walk of life. It will take no captives and eventually alchoholism will kill it's victims spiritually then physically.

Drank like half a fifth of whiskey after about 8-9 months without a drink. Woke up feeling like absolute hell and wondered why I even bothered poisoning myself again. Ever since then even the thought of drinking makes my stomach queesy as fuck. So back up to about 2-3 months dry again. I think i'm definitely done with the stuff. Have no desire to get a drink whatsoever.

Nasty stuff.

I used to wonder why I drank after so many painful day afters. I can't count the amount of times I honestly quit and then started back up again a day, week, months, years later. I was unable to bring with sufficient force the pain of the last drunk after a period of time. Finally I learned a real alcoholic such as myself will always go back to the drink if they try to use their own will to quit.

If anyone reading thru this thread wonders whether or not they are a true alcoholic I suggest they search for "the dr's opinion" from the big book. If you identify with the person describe you have a high chance.

It was told to me that remembering how bad your last drunk was, was like remembering a toothache....you know it hurt like hell but simply can't feel exactly how badly or the ferocity of how badly it hurt at the time.

The Drs opinion has stood the test of time, like the rest of the big book and is good for alcoholics because it is in the beginning of the book and we are inherently lazy. lol Truth is, every single page of the big book has something that an alcoholic can relate to.

@Sui A lot of people relapse this time of year. There are a ton of pressures on us during the Holiday seasons and it becomes much easier to rely on the old tried and true.."Fuck it" attitude.
Just remember...all any of us have is 24 hrs. sober and that you can start today without a drink.

Get to a meeting and let them know that you just relapsed and ask for numbers. If you would like mine, just :pm:me. There is no great shame in relapsing, it is simply going back to what alcoholics do...it is deep down into the smarter part of our brains and we cannot out-think it. The drink almost always wins this battle.

My suggestion is to get on your knees and ask God for help...G.O.D. can be "group of drunks" or "good orderly direction" if you have reservations. This should be followed up by getting to a meeting as soon as possible. I make no bones about it, this is what I did and my life has never been the same since that day.:sunny::peace:

It's pretty crazy. I started 24 hours ago abouts.

Totally lost track of time, usually I have a better handle on the passage of time. Tonight it was crazy, it felt like I blacked out but I didn't. I realized it was noon the next day and was like 😮 wtf.

I find myself looking ahead to the next 40 50 years of my life (hopefully) and I think to myself.... how is it even possible to not drink for that long? But if I do drink.... I drink too much. The impossibility of it is what I find so hilarious.

I want to come home to 2 to 3 strong drinks at night watching a movie. Why can I not fucking do that? I always end up at least 6 in or go heavy to the full bottle region.

The old saying is if you have one foot in tomorrow and the other in yesterday, you are shitting on today. All any of us have is one day..just don't drink today, tomorrow will take care of itself. The todays add up.

Its really tough finding the motivation to stay sober. I will never be able to buy a house start a family or even make a good income. Being broke really brings on the desire to drink sadly...

Again, you are getting caught up in tomorrow.Try to just stay in today and get to a meeting. Get involved by getting phone numbers and maybe helping empty the trash or something.

Nothing changes if nothing changes

Hang in there,  with time it will get better, keep hitting up the meetings if they make you feel better. It's hard not to look to tomorrow, but today is all that matters because we are not guaranteed tomorrow.
