Thank you so much for this thread.

My life goes out to all those stricken with addiction to a substance that is so soul bound.

I have learned that the only time I use alcohol is to sanitize and wash my mouth out.

I enjoy seeing newcomers come in.  The look in there eyes remind me of the desperate mess uses I must take in order to survive in a way which surrounds itself with a helping hand to all those who suffer.

Joel,  alcoholic.

The Doctor's Opinion is an important source of information.

I just came from a Big Book study at my local clubhouse.

I can almost remember all the times I read that chapter.  It is so simply put the doctors' point of view on alcoholism.

I have been in front of a doctor explaining to me that I would die if I continued drinking, never did it fully sink in.  It sunk in once my mind cleared from 3-6 months when I was incarcerated for battery.

The Doctor's Opinion

"On the other hand--and strange at it may seem to those who do not understand--once a psychic change has occurred, the very same person who seemed doomed, who had so many problems he despaired of ever solving them, suddenly finds himself easily able to control his desire for alcohol, the only effort necessary being that required to follow a few simple rules."

Joel,  alcoholic.

What is everyone thoughts of the use of cannabis while in Alcoholics Anonymous?

I haven't medicated for over two years.  Currently I'm under the care of doctor(s) one prescribing me psych meds.

Joel,  alcoholic.

I'm a member of the Intituitions Committee in my county and I bring meetings into the Salvation Army. It's a great way for me to carry the message to the sick and suffering.  I do this commitment with my friend Marty.  On Wednesdays I work behind the counter at the club house where they serve food and coffee.

All the faces I see and the people I meet make a huge difference in my life.  I'm very thankful for these experiences.

On the cannabis piece...  I'm going to speak to my doc next time I see him.

Yogabunny;  I found myself when I was drinking I would rehash the drink I took to some how overcome the guilt I had for the glass of vodka or beer I took.

Passing these experience in sobriety I have come to terms that yes I'm an alcoholic,  what can I possibly do to fill in this place.

Like you said yogabunny you are using guided meditation that enters you into the realm of a plethora of knowledge that can come to you.

For me, to drink is to die.  I can pick the glass up and look at it but if I go through with the drink my body will succumb the Devils preservative that will effect my organs in a bad way.

That's good stuff Joel...Most people miss that "service" part of the program and wonder why they went back out. I have been taking meetings to a treatment center for over 15 years and was institution rep for my home group for 8 years....nothing like going into a jail to speak where you had been previously incarcerated.

Jail was a very dark and cold place.

The meeting were Tuesday's and Thursday's and I would go there and meet up with the chairmen.

I remember the one guy there said that I was spinning my wheels when I would tend to experience life on my own will.

Other things that would go on there would be transfers of commissary and who knows what else.

Jail brought me to my knees asking for forgiveness for the wrongs I have done in this world.

It looks at I will be going to a mental health cottage to try to overcome these manic episodes which require hospitalization.  So I have a plate of anxiety and fear.

I wish I had a roommate to move in with.

:congrats: nice job man! I'm realizing how much money I spend on alcohol and it's still not enough to stop me  her grip is strong. I've been drinking pretty heavily since I was 16, I'm 23 now and I just realize that everyone my age is getting out of that heavy drinking phase but I'm stuck drinking every night religiously. I just can't stop for some reason

Joel,  alcoholic.

I realized that alcohol had bonded itself on my soul. I had a amphetemine response once I drank it but when I drank heavily it was more like ketamine.

The relationship ended with me handcuffed sitting in the back of a police car.

I find that not having a sponser helped me.  That's why I'm alone in my apartment now.
