Same here, I'm hunting for some right now in the marketplace.

Anyone have any to trade?

Has anyone used it before?

It's supposed to work wonders. I'd personally mix it with straw and horse/cow poo and/or compost though. It just seems like it would do a good job since it's worm poo and all. Not sure how well it would retain moisture on its own so I'd definitely include the straw. I'm going to try it out soon. My 2 cents.

My lawn gnome uses worm castings mixed 50/50 w/ vermiculite( the verm helps retain moisture obviously..). He has had no problems with this setup, it has worked great from when he started and he see's no reason to change his procedure. He would definitly recomend castings as a casing mixture.

Im curious as well-particularly if they perform as well as poop as a bulk substrate-might add some to some straw and see what happens...anybody else have any experience with this?

You guys should get an apartment worm composter. Like a box 2ftx2ftx2ft. I'm on my third month and they are pumpin out all sorts of juice. It'll be time to harvest all the worm castings. I should get about 10lbs maybe more. This is my fisrt time with one, so I'll see how it turns out. All you guys need os some red wiggler werms.

My plants go ape shit over the stuff.

Manure does not work nearly as well as castings in my experience. Castings do not hold water as well most other materials like manure. I don't know why people keep saying it holds water well. If you get it to 60% moisture it becomes a wet mudpie unlike vermiculite or manure. 53% moisture or about 100ml water per 1L of castings is the max moisture I use.

I've tried many brands of manure composts that worked to a certain degree. Until worm castings I found straight straw to be the best bulk substrate. Now I only use a casting/corncob mix. I can get a 40lb bag of corncob at the local feed store. I couldn't fit that much straw into my trunk so easilly.

The key to castings, which puts them apart from manure composts, appears to be triple the solid organic material and over half the nitrogen load. This stuff won't burn plant roots and the cubs love solid organic material.

I've tried Castings/Vermiculine and Castings/Corncob with great results. I use corncobs in place of straw. The corncobs can hold up to 75% water! Pound for pound I can prepare over twice the weight of corncobs as straw with the same amount of cooking space.
