Try using the straw technique. Basically find a good thick straw from a gas station or something. Cut the straw at an angle to a length of about 1 and a half inches. With a rotating motion push the straw into the middle of the top of each cake. Once a day or so (mabey more if theyre thirsty) fill up the straw with a 1 to 9 unit H2O2 to H2O mixture. Ive had a lot of success with this one.
By the way, the white growths are something I was worried about too but Im told theyre just ambitious myc.

should just be mycelium trying to colonize the air... I wouldn't worry about it until the mushie starts to change in color....
