sporeless first flush, spores with 2nd flush?
    #2253518 - 01/19/04 06:54 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

i had a 1st flush of suspect ecuadors come up totally sporeless, in separate trays.

now, the 2nd flush is coming up. the first few that came up had very few spores, but now they all carry a normal spore load.

i've never seen this happen before. i thought it wasn't possible.

has anyone else had a similar experience?

i've had variation in spore load from flush to flush, but nothing on that order. i wouldn't assume it to be imposible; though, i know of nothing to explain it.

When it was tried by SWIM, the first flush caps let down a very faint print, just a light purple smudge, while the second flush prints were dark purple.

Not sure why, maybe the mycelial network just isn't established enough by the first flush.

early fruiting seems capable of explaining poor spoor production in the wild, as you will often see them produce a flush from a pie that is only lightly colonized, but when you know youe whole casing/cake is colonized it seems less likely that this is the cause. no spore production at all in the first flush is stranger still.

i may have been wrong about all of the first flush fruits beings sporeless. i zoomed way in on some of the pics i have to get a closer look than the eyes can give. the last fruit that came from the 1st flush may have some spores on the stem, however there were none seen on the veil or gills. this was the only fruit i think i may see spores on.

that whole first flush was a wierd one, but everyone that tried them agrees they were extremely potent. a friend said he nearly freaked on one gram; he usually eats about three grams per trip. the caps all looked like sombreros.

the second flush has been growing out to be quite normal, though. i think maybe the first flush was just having growth problems of some sort.

last fruit from first flush:

second flush, note the purple ring around the cap :crazy2: and mass of spores on the veil:

strange first flush, shure anny chemicals or something else did not got interduced into the growmedium that can explain the "mutation" ?

this was pretty cool thoe, no spores and extra potent shrooms.

did you clone some?
